Introduction

A/N - Disclaimer - This is a fan fiction. A little tribute/my version of what may have happened to lead to or after these events. There will be some references to events which has happened but some will be entirely my head canon.

The match mentioned here is completely of my own making - No relation to any canon events.

I am justing running with the idea to write more about the wonderful ICT - with special focus on Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. And there will be other members of the ITC too.

There is no intention to hurt or malign anybody. All members of ICT are most respected by me and this is just a fictional point of view. No incident have any resembled to what actually may have happened.

Matches and Incidents are in part completely of my imagination. Kindly do not take any part as the truth. Happy reading.

Will You Stand By Me?

Summary -

July 2017. A regular ODI series against New Zealand and a basic match in Otago. Virat may have spoken a little out of turn during the match but it is what happened after the match which lit the proverbial fire.

Did Virat have the mental maturity to take up the reins of captaincy with the ex-captain playing alongside him?

Was he responsible for MS giving up his limited overs captaincy when he did?

And what about the kids? How far was he responsible for Jassi's gloominess, the hint of accusation in Hardik's words and Rahul's outright censure?

And when the pressure builds up, the outburst was directed at the person who deserved it the least; MS Dhoni. His ex-captain, his forever captain. His Mahi bhai.

Could the damage control be done before it becomes too late?

One ex-captain rethinking his decision to continue as a player and one captain whose dignity stops him from seeking the support he so desperately requires.
