The door slammed open in the middle of class. Who was it?
Of course, Forger.
That dumb little runt. Damian scoffed, not surprised in the least.
"Sorry, Mr. Henderson, I missed the bus, and, ...and..." she paused her rambling, taking a deep breath before opening her mouth to speak again, but the professor held up a finger for silence.
"Please just, take a seat Ms. Forger." he let out a loud sigh as Anya sheepishly headed to her seat.
As she passed by his desk, she slowed down just a hair, letting her fingers brush against his.
--
The next day, she was late. Again.
Damian wondered if he should start picking her up instead. He had a licence and Anya was lazy and an idiot and missed the bus all the time. It would be nice to start the day with some company. She'd blabber on and on about trivial matters and he would mock her but smile in secret, thinking about how cute she was.
Anya met his eye across the room, a big silly grin plastered on her face, and Damian frowned and turned towards the window. He hoped she didn't see the blush on his face.
--
"Goodness Anya, isn't this the fourth time you've been late this week?" Blackbell asked, fetching out a napkin to dab at the non-existent bread crumbs on her mouth.
"Yes... I just can't help it; it's not my fault. I wake up so late and then I try to get to the station in time but the bus is already moving and I just look dumb standing there and when it's rainy and wet, I always slip and then..." Anya threw up her hands, a helpless expression on her face, and Damian stifled a chuckle into the heel of his palm.
She's so cute...
"You'd be late to your own wedding," he commented casually, trying to sound condescending.
--
She was not.
In fact, she was early. Standing in the wedding hall with a flowing white dress that cinched at the waist and flared out into a flowery gown, a dress fit for a princess.
There were tears in her eyes as she walked down the aisle, and she blotted at them with the hem of her sleeve as not to ruin her makeup.
He laughed at her and she laughed back as hot, wet tears streamed down his face too, and soon the only sound in the room was a symphony of giggles.
As they said their wedding vows, Anya whispered playfully: "Told ya I wouldn't be late," and he couldn't do anything but grin like a fool.
She looked just as beautiful as he'd always imagined.

RomantikSo maybe Anya is always late to school because it's not a priority (to her, at least). But somehow Damian doesn't think she'll be on time for other things that are priorities. Maybe he'll give her the benefit of the doubt though, and maybe she won't...
