On a bright summer day
A best friend lays in an alley
Shaking and shivering
She can't get her fix
Her life is falling apart
On a bright summer day
A father struggling and feeling down
Sits on a park bench, contemplating his next move
When a little girl walks by
She grins at him and hands her the lolipop she had been holding
A grin and a simple gift are enough to light him to his feet
How kind of that little girl
In the dead of the night
A boy rakes his nails down anothers back
Desperate for affection
He licks his lips
He pins him to the floor
Unable to control his demons
His desires take control
In the dead of the night
A girl curls up on the floor
A razor in her hand
An open bottle of diet pills spilled all over the floor
Blood trickles down her stomach
A best friend wraps her arms around her
Soft words to comfort her and a warm embrace
In the crisp afternoon
A group of teenagers crowd around the trees
Cigarettes and blacks are passed around
Smoke to fill their lungs
Nicotine to fill their addiction
In the crisp afternoon
A young girl smiles and calls to him
A friend in a crowd of enemies
She holds out a hand
And guides him to happiness
In the early morning
A young man slams his head on the computer desk
He just woke up
It's 3 a.m.
He can't sleep
He's exhausted and lonely
The only thing he has is the dim computer light
Friends that live miles away
Free videos to feed his cravings
He wants peace of mind
He wants sleep
In the early morning
A girl lays on the floor
She just woke up
It's the only time she gets to herself
Her house is hectic
Forcing herself to wake up is her only assurance of privacy
A man to stroke her back
And tell her it will be okay
A friend to tell her to sleep
He will do his best to save her form this place
Happiness and sadness.
Addiction and aversion.
Pain and pleasure.
Kindness and lies
Welcome to reality.
