FIRST THINGS FIRST, Matthias did not intend to take them longer than usual. He just needed a Starbucks and maybe another burger, but that was okay. He was a hungry but picky man, what else was wrong with that?

"Chorellis is annoyed."

"At you." Matthias immediately argued. Cory loved him, adored him greatly. He was her adorable little brother who once almost stole her bike because it was shiny and black, and new. But Cory loved him. "Cory loves me." He proudly puffed out his chest, earning a low grunt from Thea.

"Too much. It's disgusting." She complained, sinking deeper into her seat as the captain announced their inevitable departure from the airport.

Matthias watched her cozy up, enjoying the warm black hoodie she had adorned herself in. Her headphones muffled the noise as he glanced at what she was listening to. Yet another Taylor Swift song, but who was he to blame her? Taylor Swift was great.

The plane soon began to move, and Matthias braced himself. They've flown a multitude of times with how they kept traveling (-and stealing, all over the world, might he say), to the point they've gotten used to it. But he can never deny how the take off always makes him feel uncomfortable. The mere feeling of the plane subtly vibrating as its wheels burned and moved over the ground, and the plane's eventual lift to the sky. It's almost unnerving for him.

But the moment they're off the ground, it feels like he can breathe again. His pounding heart calms for a moment, and he closes his eyes and takes in the feeling. It's not obvious considering how their feet could still touch some kind of floor, but Matthias focuses on how the water around him felt different from the one on the ground.

The differences were small, but the water molecules hovering in the air had tint sparks of lightning in them. From the sea to the sky, water felt different the way it tasted different.

Ah well, he can't explain much of it. He has a degree in accounting but he sure as hell dived into the hellhole that is science when he got bored in high school.

"If it starts to rain, then you're immediately at fault." Thea muttered, leaning against the window as a flight attendant asked what beverages they wanted. Her smile looked really fake and Matthias couldn't help but feel bad for the woman.

"Why is it my fault?" He whipped his head towards her, bewildered before he turned to the flight attendant. "Can I please get two cups of coffee and a bottle of water?"
