This was such a random story I just cooked up in the last minute. So it's much of a mess at the moment and I haven't edited it yet. So it might be quite random as you read. Also the idea might feel similar to quite some comics and stuff and honestly I did take some ideas for the same ( so not very original if I say so)
Anyways do enjoy and feel free to suggest any changes.
_________________________________________It was a usual Tuesday afternoon. The dim sky was serene like the peace before the storm. The dark figure stood on the side lane with its back hunched deeply observing what the world had to offer. The silhouette hovered back and forth as if waiting for someone or something.
At right 1:21 the figure moved ahead to the main Street , quite like no life existed and only did death. It was indeed death. He stood there with a huge axe yielded in his skeletal fingers, wearing a huge raggy cloak which contained a skull with almost no expression on it. Death moved ahead with his icy presence leaving it's trails of dead leaves and flowers on its way. And in the course he reached a place. A place of both hope and gloom. A place where no one is discriminated old, young, Rich, rags health did no mercy or even though once of who it effected. And then Death entered the sacred walls with his icy touch spreading around and entered the largest room containing the smallest of people.
" there is almost no hope." Death heard the voice that spoke to two concerned grown adults.
" please do something!" The woman begged to the white collared doctor who looked at her with a hint of sympathy while the man accompanying held on to her to a much needed comfort. And then death looked across the room to find a teen in her fight.
She tug on to every breath she held in her weak, almost lifeless body. The scene was enough to make any grown, wise human to break into tears but for death it was normal. He saw such things everyday for who knew how many centuries. He glared at the teen tugged in rugs and a long running life support system attached to her body.
Though it was something that happened every day it always felt new to death. Not in a regret of a way but something about his job never felt familiar at least. He had been doing this job for some thousands of years but it always felt new to take a life, as if like a sweet burden.
" hello?" Death heard a small whisper from the corner. He turned to source to find a half alive-dead soul standing beside her mortal form with tears filling her sparkling eyes.
" am.. am I.. I de?" The spirit tried to speak but in vain due to all the stuttering. Death could say nothing but only nod through the faint cloak covering his skull. The little soul crept to the corner pulling her thin limbs all close and buried her little head into closedom. Death hovered around the room to near the now crying teen. He extended his ice cold arms to touch the shoulder of the half alive soul who whinced at the touch. She pushed away the cold hands and hissed through tears.
" what did I ever do ?" She spoke with a deep grunting tone accusing the age old death.
" you did nothing wrong child." Death finally spoke with cold winds blowing with every word he spoke.
" then.. then why me? Why do i have to say a goodbye." She looked into the hollow eyes with a tear glistening eyes of her own.
" everyone has to once, my child." Death reciprocated trieg to bring some warmth to the teen but he knew he could never based on how cold he was. " then why am I so early?" The teen questioned again sniffing and trying to hold on to her ranging tears but ultimately failing to do so.
" there are so many thing I want to do, spend my time with my family, friends! Why do I need to leave so quickly?" She asked with another tear jerking the wise old ghost.
" I know it is hard to accept but you need to once accept it child." Death spoke up as he held out his chilly hands to the teen. The teen hesitated in the beginning but still decided to check what he had to offer. They both stood up holding hands with each other and death took her out of the grim room.
They first across her parents sitting on a chair just beside the room, trying to comfort each other.
" what do you see?" Death voiced to the girl who stared at her weak parents.
" I.. see my parents crying." She mumbled sadly. " and I can't do anything to help them." She continued with a tear running down her red cheek. Death spoke nothing but just nodded as he moved ahead gesturing the child to follow him. The at once moved out of the hospital and were now on the main Street.
" Look at these." Death took her to the dead flowers alligned in the green bush. " What were once bright living beauty are now all dry and dead. What lives has to die once." Death explained her touching the little withered flowers and burning it into ashes.
" Bu..but death is so sc.. scary." The girl muttered sniffing as a reflex she had from her mortal body.
" If it is so scary, then why are you talking to me?" Death questioned the girl who seemed to be quite shocked by the question.
With doubts filling her brain she felt helpless and afraid of finally leaving this world.
With no words coming out she sat against her back facing the wall. She crubled low bringing her knees so close to her as if afraid to lose them just like her battle for life. Death followed her sitting beside her as trying to comfort the child. He laid the axe staff beside him and turned her skull towards the girl.
" I.. I am scared to die. Is it selfish to not want to die?" The girl muttered in an almost inaudible voice .
" Not at all. Of all the lives I took a lot feel afraid to die. And about being selfish? No selfish is when you do things for your self and hurt others. The desire to live is built in all life forms and standing for that behaviour is not wrong." Death spoke like an age old sage .
" Are you never tired of your job?" The girl asked more with curiosity.
" I can't say anything. It's hard to take away the life of beings once splendid and beautiful but a lit lamp always gets estinguished and no one can stop it." Death explained. " It's my job, I don't love it but I do love to give all the lonely souls a place where they belong." He continued finally managing to elivate a little of the child's fear.
" When I asked you what you see in your parents, you saw them crying. What I saw is their love and care for you. Care so strong that can fight me to save you." The teen looked up at the dark figure with a confused expression.
" No matter where you are your parents will always love you and wish you will be happy. You are lucky to have earned such love for your self. What else is missing after such love to have?" Death looked at the cool damp sky spread wide ahead of them .
The teen looked at the same same direction as death did trying to comprehend what the age old death had spoke. Andmaybe he was right about it. Maybe she had what was nEeded to be happy and satisfied. She closed her eyes memory painting the scenes within, the fun she had with her parents, the deep hugs in hard times, the smiles and laughs with her friends, all the times she had been happy, sad everything!
" I.. I think I am ready." The teen spoke in a low tone finally regaining her senses back from the past memories.
" I am proud of you child. It's hard to accept such things." And with that death held on to the tiny fingers both closing their eyes as the soul finally drifted into tiny glitters. And as it all happened out the machine finally came to a halt leaving no chances of any existence.
Death looked back at the unknown heaven, where the teen must have reached to and looked back at the hospital.
" the smallest coffins are the most painful, indeed." He muttered finally departing to his place.
