Joel Lives [Fan-Fiction] PT3

Jordan wasn't happy that they'd traveled all that way for a change of plan, and Neither was Owen. But Abby had made up her mind and was already preparing for him to get hauled by one of the horses.
Owen tried to make her see reason, that he would just be another mouth to feed when they came there with the intent to kill him, to end this. Owen wanted to bring Abby's obsession over this man, and his demise, to an end so that they could all move on once and for all. Abby, though she didn't explicitly say it, she didn't want to let him go just yet. To her, it meant letting go of her father and what was done to him - something she wasn't ready for just yet.
Jordan didn't see it as rationally as Owen did with all his reasons to kill the man, all he knew was that he wanted Joel dead. For good measure, he figured he'd end his brother as well; he thought that if he could wipe out the family, he'd be doing the world a justice. Especially after everything Joel had done, Tommy was just a blow for good measure, to reestablish balance again in his mind. He didn't even waste time trying to compromise with Abby, he simply walked over and raised his gun to Joel's head, silently cursing him.

"Hey, HEY!" Abby called, but Manny got to Jordan before she did. Getting between him and Joel because he knew how much this meant to Abby. While he just simply lost the idea of a cure, his friend lost her father. He was still blessed to have his own and had no idea the lengths he'd go to if someone decided to take him away. Even if Manny didn't understand why she wanted to take him, or even agree for that matter, he knew that Jordan had no other right than to just be there and be a part of it. However, Jordan didn't see it that way, and raised his g*n to Manny - which got another pointed back at him by Abby.

"I'm finishing this." He said.

"It's finished when I say it's finished," Abby replied.

"Lower your guns, this is getting crazy," Manny said. Begrudgingly, after an intense pissing match, they listened. Jordan knew he was outnumbered here and hated how inconvenient this was turning out to be. He walked back into the garage with Leah following close behind.

"And what do you think Issac's gonna say when we show back up with him? Their people could come after us, after him." Owen tried to make her understand one last time, but she wasn't even listening.

"Abby?" He asked, flustered.

"I'll handle it!" She nearly yelled.

She looked at the unconscious Joel lying on the ground with a swollen eye and a nasty cut on the side of his head. "He may not even make the trip." She said. That statement held two meanings, either he would die due to exposure/infection, or because Abby didn't want him to make it to Seattle. Either way, he was her responsibility and she knew that she wanted this. She wants his life, his every breath in the palm of her hand.

Owen was upset at this sudden turn of events, but he knew he wouldn't be able to convince her right now. They had spent way too much time discussing this, they should've already been packed up to leave.

"What are we going to do with him?" Nora asked, nudging her head towards Tommy.

They stood silently, contemplating what to do as a small pull of blood had accumulated under him. Jordan came back in, hearing this inquiry - "I say we leave him." He said, hoping to get his way at least once today.

"He used to be one of us. He wanted the same things we did once." Owen tried to defend the innocent man caught up in all this. He didn't blame Tommy for helping his brother, he'd have done the same if his were still alive.

"There is no more us. Even if there were - he aided a murderer, and who knows what they did with the girl. If she's even still alive." Abby replied, tying some gear to the sides of the horse.

Owen wanted to ask her if she'd have done the same if the tables were turned, and he or her father killed someone else to save her. They were all murderers in some sense, with someone's father or brother's blood on their hands. But he knew how that would come across if he'd said it out loud. How quickly they'd turn even though he still felt the same about Joel, that he deserved to die for what he'd done. He was just getting tired of having to be the one to do or aid the killing, it wasn't what he signed up for.

He sighed, "Leave him." He said and turned just as the door opened to reveal a girl standing there, holding up a gun. They were frozen before she glanced down and saw Joel lying there, bloody and unmoving.

Her face contorted into rage, she gritted her teeth, "No!" She yelled before pulling the trigger just as Nick tackled her to the ground. It grazed Jordan's cheek, who stood directly beside Owen, before getting lodged in the wall behind him.

"Hold her down! Get her hand!" Yelled Nora who helped Nick pin her to the ground.

"GET THE F**K OFF ME!" The girl screamed and tried to get to Joel.

She saw Tommy lying on the ground by the bar at the other entrance of the room. She saw the blood and how still he was, she wondered if he was dead, but those questions came to a halt with a boot to her sternum. Jordan had started kicking her for shooting him only to eventually get held back by Manny.

The girl struggled, "You're going to f**king die!"

Mel was gathering her supplies from the garage when she came in to see what all the commotion was about. "Who is that?" She asked.

"Who was supposed to be posted outside?" Owen asked.

"We didn't think anyone was going to show up," Nora replied.

"The hell did you expect?" He looked back at Joel, knowing now wasn't the time to argue anymore, they had to leave and do so quickly. "We need to get out of here before the whole town is on top of us. End it." He said.

"You want what I want, right?" Abby replied.

Owen was getting stressed, now he had two innocent lives close in his own hands, and if he didn't get a handle on his people, it would be his responsibility. "Hurry." He said.

"Joel, get up." The girl pleaded.

His eyes opened ever so slightly. He knew she was there, but he was too weak to do anything, too tired. His head pulsed like his legs had, his body bruised from the first time he woke and tried to get free.

"Please stop." She pleaded. Please don't do this." Tears made her choke as she thought they were going to kill him right then and there, along with Tommy. "Joel! Please get up!"

Her heart pounded in her ears and she wasn't able to listen to any of their words as she couldn't take her focus off Joel. She wasn't paying attention to how they argued about killing her, how they all wanted to put a b*llet in her head and be done with it. She lay there wishing she was stronger to get out from under the people holding her down. Wishing she hadn't come alone just as Jordon walked up to her and kicked her in the face - knocking her out cold.
