Let's talk about it.

Vincent woke up in his bed with a pounding headache which resulted from the hard unbranded whiskey he consumed the night before with Maven. He felt regret in a split second for letting himself get out of hand for his first time drinking, especially with something as strong as that whiskey. He slowly got himself out of bed and stretched his arms and legs before making his way over to his bathroom. As he entered, he groggily grabbed his toothbrush, his toothpaste and stood in front of the washbasin and mirror. He then began to brush his teeth to get the horrid after taste out of his mouth, when his cellphone started to ring suddenly from his bedroom.
Vincent let out an annoyed sigh as he quickly finished rinsing his mouth and face before heading back into his room. He quickly saw his phone on his nightstand and picked it up, answering the call right away. He rubbed his eyes as he sat down on the edge of his bed with the device to his ear.

"H-hello? This is Vincent speaking."

"It's Maven. Glad to know that you're awake now. So, you uh...feeling alright?"

Vincent's eyes widened as he heard Maven's voice through the speaker. He straightened his posture and cleared his throat as he went on to make his response.

"U-um...yeah I'm okay. What about you?"

"I'm fine. I've been through worse hangovers before, heh."

"I don't think I'll ever have a night like that ever again. Feels like my head got bashed into a speeding train."

"Hehe, well...that's...some description."

Vincent pinched the bridge of his nose from the lingering pain of his head, as he shared a light chuckle with Maven. They both stayed on the line for about an hour or so until Maven suddenly brought up a question that put their conversation to a small pause.

"So, about last night... Did you really mean what you said?"

"Oh, umm.."

"S-sorry if that was too soon to ask. I know you just woke up with your first hang-"

"N-no no! It's okay, really. Let's talk about it."

Vincent couldn't see it obviously but Maven was quite nervous and flushed on the other side of the call. He then felt his own face get warm as he tried to continue the conversation.

"W-well to answer your question. Yes, I did mean what I said last night."

"So...you really liked our kiss?"

"Hehe, yes."

Maven nearly grinned from ear to ear in glee but tried to keep his composure as best as he could, clearing his throat and holding his typical smug tone.

"So, am I to expect more in the future from you?"

"M-more kisses?"

"Yeah, little man~"

Vincent's face got beet red as he screamed internally and he tightly clutched the sheets of his bed. Usually whenever Maven acted all prideful, it would be of slight annoyance. But after that night of getting drunk and getting to know him better, Vincent's feelings for him gradually began to change. It was almost as if he felt lucky that he was able to express himself around someone he did consider to be a friend or perhaps, something more. It wasn't long before Vincent could find himself zoning out in his mind, imagining the many instances of kisses in his possible future. Maven was still on the phone calling his name, trying to snap him out of it so he could get back his full attention.

"Vince? You still there?"

"H-huh, what?"

"Were you...thinking again?"

"No, I'm good, I promise!"

Maven let out a snorted laugh, flustering the poor guy and making him sheepishly plop back hard on his bed.

"Well, I better head off now. I'll...see at the store on Monday, okay?"

"Y-yeah. Of course. See you then."

The call soon ended with Vincent fondly clutching his cellphone to his chest and curling up in his bed. He then sighed as he laid there for a few minutes, pondering the talk he just had with Maven, with his question echoing in his mind.

"Am I to expect more in the future from you?"

Vincent's face got immediately hot from embarrassment as his body jolted upright and immediately got off the bed. He then hurriedly went back to his bathroom and proceeded to take his pajamas off to get in his shower and clean himself up. He figured that the shower could distract him from his current thoughts and feelings on Maven, at least for a temporary moment. However, he couldn't deny that even before their kiss, he did find something rather...enticing about the man.
