It had been two hours since the twin cups had gotten home, and mugman had been angrily crying on the top bunk of his and cups bunk bed. He just wanted to wait there for the devil to come get their souls, as he saw no point in trying to keep them. But after a few hours of stewing in his own emotions, he decided it was best if he came out to face kettle and his brother. If they were gonna get their souls taken away they might as well do it together, right? He sighed as he climbed down the ladder of the bunk bed and opened the door slowly, and when he found there was no cup to be seen he slowly left the room and went down the stairs. He soon grew confused at the lack of his brother in the house and went to elder kettle for answers. "Ah Mugman, there you are! Feeling better?" Elder kettle greeted Mugman with a pleasant, calm smile as he put the book he was reading down on his lap. "Hey elder kettle" Mugman gave a small smile "say, wheres cup?" He took a nervous step into the living room as he spoke. "Oh, he went out on his own to gather those soul contracts. He said he wanted to fix this without bringing you into it." Elder kettle stared calmly while looking out of the little circular window next to him. Mugmans eyes widened with shock. He didn't think Cuphead would actually try to do this on his own. "He can't do this by himself! He'll get shattered!" Mugman raised his voice ever so slightly to emphasize the point. Elder kettle nodded. "If you want to go find him. You should drink this." He held up a vile of glowing blue liquid. "This gives you powers so you can defend yourself." Elder kettle calmly held out the vile for Mugman to take, which he did without much thought to it. "What's it do, anyway?" Mugman tilted his head as he looked at the mysterious blue liquid and tilted it slightly. "You get to shoot things with your fingers with it. Ive kept it for an occasion such as this." Elder kettle gave a reassuring nod which gave Mugman enough courage to drink the liquid. Mugman looked down at his pointer finger as he felt a soft buzzing in the finger. As he looked more, a bright blue glow began emanating from his finger eventually shooting off a beam straight through the small window next to elder kettle. "Oh! I'm so sorry elder kettle!" Elder kettle just laughed softly. "Don't fret, its okay. Now go help your brother!" Elder kettle raised his voice slightly to raise confidence in the mug. Mugman gave a confident smile "thank you elder kettle!" He then started towards the door. "don't you worry about it. Now you be careful!" Elder kettle shouted as Mugman left through the door and ran to find Cuphead.
