Y/N was dancing yet again, it's like she's got nothing else to do. Every time she dances, she imagines that her best friend is watching her.
"I wish you were here." She whispered. She wanted to dance with him, just like she used to. They would dance together, he would sing to her, but he never acknowledged the fact that he could sing.
She met the boy in September of 1964, in kindergarten. It was a casual day, they were learning about numbers. Their teacher told them that they had to have a partner for this, "Y/N, you will be paired with him." Her kindergarten teacher said, pointing to the boy. The dancer nodded and went to sit next to him.
"What's your name?" The boy turned to her and asked.
"I'm Y/N! What's your name?" The girl asked.
"Joe!" The little Joe responded, "What's your favorite thing to do?"
"Dance," Y/N giggled. "You?"
"Music!!" Yeah, ever since he was a little boy, that's what he wanted to do, music.
Later that day, the girl decided to show Lia some of the pictures. Y/N looked at the very first picture that was ever taken of the two of them, Joe was hugging her and she was smiling from ear to ear.
"This was taken, I think, early October of 1964." The dancer explained.
"You two are adorable," Lia smiled.
"And this one," The girl picked up another photo, "Was a picture of our first playdate a little while later."
"What did you gusy do during the playdates?" Lia asked.
"Well, I'd dance to a rock song and he'd sing along or do air guitar. That's mostly what we did."
"Do you have any recent photos?"
"Yeah," Y/N dug through the pile of pictures, "This was the very last picture taken of the two of us together in fifth grade."
"Wait, can I see the photo for a moment?"
"Yeah, sure, why?"
Lia studied the photo closely, "I think I know your best friend. What's his full name?"
"Joseph Thomas Elliott Jr."
"Joe Elliott?"
"Well that's what he would call himself, yeah."
"Sweetie, I think I know how you can see your bestfriend again." Y/N's head shot up, there was a kind of excitement in her eyes.
"How?"
"Well, honey, there is this band. Def Leppard." Lia began, the girl nodded, "The lead singer's name is Joe Elliott and he looks a whole lot like your best friend."
"Can we go to their concert?" Y/N asked.
"Of course we can!" Lia grinned and the girl jumped up with excitement.
It was announced that the band would be coming back to Sheffield for two nights, so of course, Lia and Y/N bought tickets.
It was the night of the concert and the girls were getting ready.
"Should I wear this shirt?" Y/N held up a white crop top, "Or this red one?"
Lia thought for a moment, "Maybe red would look good on you," the dancer nodded and put on a cute outfit. She was wearing a red crop top with blue ripped jeans. Her hair was long and teased. She had very little makeup on, so maybe Joe would recognize her.
"This is going to be interesting, I get to see my best friend after eleven years. I'm kind of scared that he won't recognize me," Y/N's nervousness reflected into her words.
"I've never seen anyone nervous about going to a concert," Y/N glared at Lia, "Sorry, honey. You are going to be fine. If he doesn't recognize you, then ignore him."
The girls got into the car and played some Def Leppard, "Is that him singing?" Y/N asked.
"Yes, isn't he great?"
"Yeah," the dancer remembered all those times that Joe would sing to her, he always had a powerful voice in her opinion. She'd give anything for Joe to sing to her, just her.
When they arrived at the venue, there were girls, lots of them. They were pretty too.
"Hey, I'm going to kick Joe's ass if he tries to hurt you ok? You are the most beautiful girl here and he doesn't see that, well fuck him." Lia's words always seemed to make Y/N feel better.
It was around 8:00 pm when the show started, the last person to walk on that stage was Joe. The girl watched her best friend sing, he had an amazing stage presence.
"SHEFFIELD WE ARE BACK!!!" Joe yelled into the microphone. The crowd cheered and the front man looked around the crowd. His eyes landed on Y/N, she noticed of course and smiled at him, then she mouthed the words, "I miss you,". Joe winked and nodded. It was amazing to the girl how his eyes just happened to land on her. Did he recoginize her? What did he think she mouthed to him?
"Can we stay a little longer after the show?" Y/N questioned.
"Of course," Lia yelled over the loud music and then went back to enjoying it, and so did Y/N.
The show ended around 9:45 - 10:00, Lia and Y/N waited for the band to come out. They came out with their instruments one by one.
The first was a shorter boy, he had straight-ish brown hair and he seemed to be carrying a guitar case. Next, was a boy with long, curly, brown hair, who was also carrying a guitar case. Then, it was yet another guitarist, but this time he had shoulder length, blonde hair. Then, it was the drummer, he had curly brown hair and seemed to be the youngest of the band. Last, but certainly not least in Y/N's eyes, was Joe.
When he walked out onto the general admission area, his head immediately turned to the girl. There was a kind of glow in his eyes and then his lips moved, "Y/N....".
