Halle Lynn Bailey often referred to as "Hals", is a sassy and clumsy teenager. She has friends and a loving family, and she attends Bayside High School. Halle Bailey is well known for her fashion sense and style, she loves fashion so much that she even designs her own clothes and wants to become a fashion designer.

Jessica Caroline Alexander is Halle's best friend. Jessica generally comes off as either absent-minded or a very bit of an air-head, not understanding the simplest and obvious things. Though she can be absent-minded, she deeply cares about her she really likes fashion and loves having fun with Raven and she is caring of animals However, she is very gifted in other areas. She is great with animals and works as a dog groomer, where the owner said she was the best groomer they had. She also has great leadership skills, taking charge of several protests and is president of her school's greenery preservation club.

John Legend is Halle and Jessica's other best friend who is a skilled rapper and whose parents are divorced, the latter statement being mentioned several times throughout the series. He is Halle's male best friend and a guard on the school basketball team. He is like a "big brother" to Branson Bailey. Occasionally, he says "Told ya! Told ya twice!" after he tells Halle not to do something that they both knew she would do. Another common catchphrase of his is "Holla!" after he finishes talking to his friends or girls that he likes. It is also said that he has a little brother.
