Part 2 out of two 🥀 ——>🌹

. . . "My name is Sapphire,"

she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I came here seeking help...just like you. I was told that the witch who lived here could help me...but I guess I wasn't as lucky as you." She let out a small laugh, tinged with bitterness.

Eadwine felt a pang of sympathy for Sapphire. "I am sorry for your troubles," she said, squeezing Sapphire's hand gently. "But perhaps we can help each other. We are both seeking answers, after all. Perhaps if we combine our knowledge and efforts, we can find a way to save our forest."

Sapphire raised an eyebrow, her expression skeptical. "And how might we do that?" she asked, her voice still tinged with doubt.

Eadwine took a deep breath, feeling the weight of her newfound responsibility settle into her shoulders. "Well," she began, "first, we should explore the tower and find out as much as we can about the witch who lives here. If she truly is as powerful as they say, we might be able to persuade her to help us."

She glanced around the dimly lit entryway, noting the strange symbols carved into the walls and the peculiar smell of incense that hung in the air. "But even if we can't convince her," she continued, "we have knowledge that she doesn't. We know the forest, we know its secrets. We can use that to our advantage."

Sapphire looked skeptical, but Eadwine could see the glimmer of hope returning to her eyes. "What do you suggest we do?" she asked tentatively.

Eadwine took another deep breath, steeling herself for the task ahead. "First, we should find a way to contact the witch. Perhaps there is a hidden chamber or a spell we can use. Once we have her attention, we can present our case to her."

Sapphire said nothing to that but then slowly nodded her head and smiled, this was the first time Eadwines ever seen her smile before and it made her feel a strange tingling in her stomach. Sapphire's smile was quite infectious so Eadwine smiled back.

Standing up Eadwine uses her plant magic to lift them both out of the trapdoor."I think the witch will have a hidden room or something," Eadwine says, leading the way down the hallway. "We just need to keep an eye out for any signs of it."

The two elves continued their search, moving through the tower's twisting corridors and climbing its creaky stairs. As they explored, they found all manner of strange and arcane artifacts: dusty books filled with ancient lore, strange potions bubbling away on workbenches, and even a few caged creatures that seemed to be part plant and part animal. Each discovery only served to heighten their sense of wonder and curiosity, and they found themselves sharing stories about their respective homelands and the wonders they had seen there.

The further they ventured into the tower, the more Eadwine began to suspect that Sapphire was not just some ordinary elf. There was an air of wisdom and experience about her that belied her youthful appearance. She seemed to understand the nuances of magic that Eadwine had only just begun to grasp, and her knowledge of the forest and its inhabitants was encyclopedic. As they continued their search for the hidden chamber or spell that might grant them an audience with the witch, Eadwine couldn't help but feel a deep sense of respect and admiration for Sapphire.
