This Play of Mine

Tragic as it may seem to the average eye
My story is one without confusion or lie
Look on and see this storm from afar
Be moved as I take every cut and scar

You must be able to see where this goes
A high should always come after a low
This story is new, you venture a guess
That I'll put things in order more or less

But from these eyes and in this head
Pain only stops when I lay down to bed
My heart is heavy and vision narrow
The sky black with my enemies arrows

Feel free to watch as I continue on
Smile in knowing when my will is gone
Maybe you'll recall a time all your own
When you believed you were all alone

I cannot say what you are waiting to see
Triumphant at last or a wretch set free
Might I ask you skip straight to the end
Don't give yourself a chance to pretend

This might not be the story you thought
The happy ending that you were taught
There is no agreement or treaty signed
The terms aren't even clearly defined

But since you are here, I'll do my best
Make time to study and pass the test
I'll train harder and hurry this life along
Impatient to right my numerous wrongs

Watch what you want, just know this
My turn will come to feel loves bliss
Please be there when the day arrives
Understand how I fought to survive

Rise where you sit and join me in praise
Suffering leaves like a passing phase
God at my side through the pain and joy
Finally a moment we both can enjoy
