Smartness. So I'm pretty sure the fact that you can read this makes you have at least 85 iq. The average iq is between 85 - 115. Just a random fact.

But sometimes, I hear people say stuff like "I'm so dumb" and "I wanna be smarter". But if you think about it, being smart is... theoretically very hard. The smarter you are, the more problems and thoughts you'll have and the more you understand.

Imagine it like this: You have a circle on a table. The bigger the circle is, the more it touches with the surface of the table. Now let's imagine that the table are thoughts, problems, etc. and the circle is your "smartness". The smarter you are, the more thoughts and problems you have.

Being smart often comes in handy, but socially? People often can't understand your views and opinions if you're above average when it comes to iq. They don't understand what you're talking about and eventually, will avoid you. That's of course the worst case scenario. If a person is willing to learn new things, they usually won't really have a problem with you.

But let's be honest: imagine someone is always correcting you and pulling out random smartass comments out of nowhere... it's not only annoying but it also can lower your confidence...

Sometimes on the other hand, you just talk to a person and just think "Wow... they're so stupid...". And yes, a lot of us are calling our friends "dumb" or "stupid" but that's not what I'm talking about. I mean the actual kind of dumb. Like... really dumb... I really wonder how those people just survive from day-to-day life...

A thing that I hate about school, is that they ignore the different "kinds" of smart. Just think about it and answer for yourself: what do you think of when you hear "a person is smart"? They're good at maths or chemistry? Maybe you even have a particular person in mind?

To answer that... no. If you don't know maths or chemistry you're not automatically dumb. There are so many kind of smart: "social smart" - a person who can understand other people and get along with them. Or creative type of smart - people who are very creative and have many new ideas. Those are just a few types of smart. I think, I'm a socially, creatively and linguistic kind of smart (meaning I can quickly and easily learn and use languages). What kind of smart do you think you are?

I really think schools should support all kinds of smart and allow people to develop themselves the way the students feel like.

By the way, all the terms I used right now are not official... I just made them up :]
