"Just be yourself and remain calm. My dad's not that bad. He's just protective but I think he'll like you. Okay stay calm." He chuckles and I look to him as he parks in my parent's driveway.
"What?"
"You're the one panicking babe." I sigh, taking a deep breath.
"I just want everything to go perfectly." He nods in understanding.
"I know babe, but it'll be fine, okay?" I shake my head yes, and he smiles, leaning over to kiss me.
"Let's go." I nod, and he opens his door getting out. He comes to my side, opening the door for me, and helping me out. He goes to the back, taking out the brown bag that had the bouquet of daisies he got for my mom, and the bottle of my dad's favorite scotch. My hands were sweating so badly, that I had to keep swiping it against my dress.
"Calm down baby. It'll be okay." He reassures me, stretching out his free hand to me. I nod once again, trying to remain calm. He bring my hand to his lips, pressing a soft kiss there, and it made my heart flutter.
--
"We're here!" I announce as we enter the living room, my mom immediately jumping up to come greet us.
"Hey brother in law!"
"Oh my baby!" My mom runs to hug me.
"I missed you.""I missed you too Mama." Pulling away she turns to Dillan giving him a hug of his own.
"It's nice to finally met you Dillan." She pulls away.
"My daughter won't ever stop talking about you.""Mom." I whine shyly glancing at him.
"Oh stop. He's practically family."
"That's what I keep saying." Simone adds and I glare at her.
"I'll be the judge of that." My dad finally speaks, standing from his chair and coming over to us.
My mom pulls me over to stand next to Simone in front of the tv,and we watch their exchange.
"Don't worry honey, you know you father has to exude his fatherly dominance." My mother whispers and we laugh."It's a pleasure to meet you sir. Carlene told me that Chivas Regal is your favorite scotch and I brought some flowers for your wife." He lifts the bag and my dad takes it, looking into the bag and humming.
He looks him up and down, before slowly walking around him. Dillan looked at me and smiled, but it's when my father stood behind him, and a big smile came on his face and he gave me a thumbs up, before his serious face returned and he stood in front of Dillan again, that made me smile brighter.
"So you say you want to be with my baby girl?"
"Yes sir."
"She's not one of these regular woman. My girls are all one of a kind, and I do not and will never let anyone take advantage or hurt them. Do you understand boy?" Dillan smiles, nodding his head yes.
"You have my word sir." My father grunts I'm response.
"Let's eat then." He turns to face us.
"Honey he brought a new bottle for me, you cannot tell me I can't drink. It would be considered rude." My mother rolls her eyes, grabbing the bag from my father."Come on in and sit Dillan. And thank you for the flowers."
"You're welcome Ma'am." She smiles. I walk over to him, and he wraps his arms around me.
"My dad won't ever say it, but he likes you." He laughs, leaning down to kiss me but someone clears their throat and we both look to my father.
"Not in front of me boy."
