Jeremy

I've spent four years residing at the Buchanan on 48th Street to star in the fifth season of the Murder Diaries as seasons five and seven took place in New York. Four years later, I'm returning to the sunny City of Angeles where some dreams come true or don't as a single man. I'm trading the New York styled pizza slice for the palm trees and sunny beaches with a Hollywood sign.

It's been fifty three minutes since the plane ascended from the LaGuardia Airport and I peer through the windows to stare in awe at the clouds as they look like white cotton candy. I place the headphones over my ears and start up my MP3 player to play my California Tunes playlist starting with "California Love" by 2Pac featuring Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman while I'm enjoying the pistachio nuts one of the stewardess gave me before takeoff.

One Hour and Forty Three Minutes Later...

The plane lands swiftly fine and most of the passengers are getting their stuff out of the luggage compartment. I stand up from my seat to grab my luggage and make my way down the line, step down the stairs and enter the LAX. I shift my eyes from right to left if the person I'm looking for is here through the packed airport. "Jerrreeee!" I turn my head an a big smile plasters on my face to notice two of my brothers Thomas and Bradley walking towards my direction.

"You're here!"

"And you're back!" Bradley replies.

"Ready to see everybody, little bro?" Thomas queries.

"Let's go, guys!" I concur.

The three of us depart the airport and get in the yellow Hummer the same time the clean version of "Going Back to Cali" by Notorious B.I.G. comes on the radio. This song is the definition for this moment right now as Bradley turns slightly to the right onto W Century Blvd. I look up and marvel at the sun peeking over the horizon and the clouds are like the sea of pink cotton candy. As my eyes are merely focusing on the beautiful sunrise, my neglected feelings about California has brought up the fond memories I've lived with and opportunities I was granted. As the sun starts to hit its bright, warm light on the road as well as the exterior of the Hummer, I reflect this as a new day and the new beginning for me as I'm a newly single man  returning to the West Coast.

"Jeremy! Did you hear?! Thomas exclaims the question while Bradley whoops excitingly.

"Hear what?" I query with a puzzling expression.

"Cecilia is nominated for a Grammy!" Bradley hollers.

So Cecil is finally getting recognized with a Grammy award after all these years. When she and I were little kids, she used to sing in the house-- whether it was at her house or at my house all the time and she really has such an euphonious voice. She knew what her goal was gonna be while I didn't know what mine could be, but she helped me find my passion that I love to this day. I knew she's going to earn her Grammy someday and now she is. She definitely deserves it.
