Traveling with a baby kept Yaku and Lev on their toes. They had no idea when their son would start crying. He was a squirming, wiggly bomb half of the time.
Luckily for them, Makari liked the lull of the car ride and slept all the way to the restaurant Alisa insisted on taking them to. The small, compact cab of the car kept Yaku and Lev's scents close to Makari. He gurgled and snoozed in his new car seat.
For the duration of the car ride, Lev couldn't keep his eyes off the small pup. He kept commenting to his mate how adorable Makari was while he slept.
The couple quietly murmured to each other, keeping their hands clasped together.
Alisa secretly watched them from the front seat. She's happy they got out of the situation they were in in Japan. All the times she'd talked to Lev within the last year he was struggling to do what was best for his family and keep them out of harm's way. He looks much happier now, although nervous. Alisa understood and she would help her brother and brother-in-law as much as she could.
She watched Lev now in the rearview mirror smiling down at Makari. Nothing but love in his eyes when he looked from his pup to his mate. Alisa is relieved to see them together, she knows the omega is a great match for her brother.
At first, Alisa was worried when she heard the news her brother and Yaku were having a baby. She knew Lev was still very immature and lacked the responsibility of a parent. He owned up to his role though and changed a lot in just under a year. Their pup was definitely a blessing.
And her nephew is truly adorable. He seems like an easy baby by how quiet and calm he's been. They must be proud parents.
Proud and humbled to have a baby who is lulled asleep by car rides.
However, Makari did not like the busy, bustling noise of the restaurant or the variety mix of scents. He woke up with a start as soon as they walked in. He squirmed in Yaku's arms as the omega tried to shush him.
"Table for four," Alisa said to the waitress in Russian. Her brain went a little haywire trying to switch from one language to another. "Are you guys sure you want to eat here? We can get something to go or eat when we get back to Gram's."
"We'll be okay. I'm sure he's just hungry." Yaku grit his teeth. His instincts are wiry as he tries to figure out what his pup needs. "Let's get seated so I can get a bottle ready."
"Yeah, sis. We want to try the restaurant since you insisted." He didn't want her kindness to go to waste.
The hostess showed them to a table in the back corner. As they walked through the restaurant, everyone gawked at them. More like gawked at the wailing pup.
It was overwhelming and made the alpha and omega feel uneasy.
Once they were seated, Lev pulled a bottle from the diaper bag and mixed it up. "How are we going to warm it, Mori-san?"
Yaku looked increasingly frustrated, "I don't know. Do I look like a microwave?"
The waitress walked up to the table and said something to the omega. Yaku just looked between the waitress and Alisa hoping for a translation.
"She offered to heat the bottle for you," Alisa smiled, "Go on, Lev, you can follow her to the counter."
The alpha hesitantly handed over the bottle and followed her. He watched as she heated it in the microwave in the kitchen.
When it was done, she handed it back and said something. Lev completely forgot how to say thank you in Russian so he simply bowed and hurried back to the table.
