Chapter 1, The First Hint

Nico's POV

ugh... english class, i hate it, mostly every one does. the teacher was babbling on about some project we had to do. i wasn't really listening because it was extremely boring and I'm sure my partner for this project, Leo Valdez, would explain it to me later.

i started doodling on my notes. A picture of a spirit coming out of a persons body... sometimes i wonder whats wrong with me... why can't i just be normal? i sighed and flipped the page so i didn't have to look at my disturbing drawing anymore. i nearly dozed off, but i felt a buzz in my pocket. i pulled out my phone, the screen read, 1 new message, from blocked number. i checked to see if the teacher was looking but luckily she was writing on the black bored. i opened up text to see that to said...

as adorable as you are when your concentrating, i think you should concentrate less on your drawing and more on the lesson before you get caught ;) X

i was at a loss for words. Who would send me that? clearly they don't know whats wrong with me, there probably new... but the only newish kid in my english class is a girl named piper... and pretty much the entire school new i was gay by now... surely piper wouldn't have sent that text anyway... and how did they get my number? i didn't just give it to people all willy nilly for no reason. as far as i know the only people at this school who had my phone number were leo, my half sister hazel, and the school office...

i snapped out of my trance when i heard the bell ring for my next class, math, which would have been boring but i was way to caught up in my thoughts about the boy behind my phone screen to even realize i was in class let alone care about the lesson. when the lunch bell rang, me, leo, frank and hazel all met up at our usual spot, the small table by the water fountain in the cafeteria. i was normally first to get to our table how ever i must have been so caught up in my thoughts, that i arrived last.

"what took you so long to get here?" leo asked me with a smirk

"n-no reason" i responded, stuttering slightly, i was still a bit shaken up about the text.

"are you sure Nico? your normally first to get here" hazel said, looking up at me from her seat, warily.

"yeah, I'm fine, really" i muttered and sat down with my food, which i didn't eat like usual. i felt my phone buzz in my pocket again, so i took it out and the screen read, 1 new message, from blocked number. i opened, and read the message quickly, hoping no one saw it.

hey lovely, you should probably eat some of your lunch, i don't want you to starve, that would make me extremely sad, and i miss you terribly, anyway, have a nice lunch! X

i shoved the phone in my pocket but of course leo had some how managed to read the text over my shoulder in that short amount of time

"NICO'S GOT A BOYFRIEND!" he whisper yelled.

"No i don't" i scowled.

"then why did he call you lovely and say he'd be sad if you starved!?" leo asked with a devilish smile on his face.

"i-i don't know, okay?" i responded quietly, because, that was the truth, i didn't know why this person sent me these texts, it was probably just some prank. yeah, thats gotta be it, a prank, a joke, entertainment for whoever is sending these texts.

"well are you gonna respond?" leo asked as he nudged me with his elbow.

"no" i didn't want to respond to this prank, it would simply make me feel even worse

"why?" leo elbowed me again

"its probably just a prank, or a joke or something, no guy in this school could actually like me" i muttered the last part while looking down at my feet underneath the table.

"can i see your phone Nico?" he asked while putting his hands out in front of him, for me to put the phone on them.

"why do you want it?" i asked, knowing he would probably do something stupid.

"i need to call my uh... dad" leo responded

i raised an eyebrow at him. "leo, i know your lying, you haven't had contact with your dad in 2 years, you even live on your own for god sake!" i said

"i happen to have housemates Nico, I'm not a complete loner!" he said hitting my arm playfully

"guys, not to ruin your little drama party over here, but the bell is gonna wring soon, you should probably finish your lunches" frank spoke, almost motherly like, he was always like this though.

"im not hungry" i responded blankly. i was never hungry, i only ate when absolutely necessary. i turned to face leo to see him stuffing his food into his mouth like a chipmunk. i gave him a glare to tell him that, what he was doing was disgusting.

"leo, your not 5, can you please eat normally" hazel asked.

he just shook his head and continued stuffing food in his mouth, causing hazel and frank to laugh. i never laughed, i guess i was never happy enough to laugh, i don't know why I'm so messed up, I'm broken.

the sound of the bell brought me back to reality, as i gave leo my food, which he took gladly and put in a plastic bag for later, i began walking to my next class. the other students were swarming the hall so i rushed by quickly, trying not to get trampled, sadly that didn't happen. some other student, Jason grace, i believe his name was, had accidentally hit me with his bag, sending me flying into the wall.

"oh my god, I'm so sorry, i didn't see you, are you okay?" he asked. he seemed nice, I'm pretty sure he was one of the popular kids, there was a few of them... him, Anabeth chase, his sister taliah, Percy Jackson, and I'm pretty sure piper had been hanging out with them too.

"uh.. yeah I'm fine" i replied and walked off before he could say anything else.

when i got to my next class, which was science, we didn't do much, just copied down some notes or whatever, nothing real exiting, not until leo accidentally exploded something and stuff went flying everywhere, while we were testing out some new equipment that our teacher wanted us too.

"holy crap! Nico watch out!" he yelled, but before i knew it i was knocked onto the ground and everything went black.

A/N: CLIFF HANGER hehe, please don't hate me! and I'm sorry for any mistakes or whatnot in this, I'm not exactly the best when it comes to that kind of stuff. anyway, if you guys have any ideas or suggestions, just let me know! this story doesn't really have much of a plot, so I'm kinda just making it up as i go, and id really appreciate your help! i hope you guys liked the first chapter!
