Chapter 6: settling in

—-hey guys don't forget to vote if you like this story and please let me know what you think about this character!!!!----

I walked onto the street after gathering my stuff, as well as getting a lift down from the ship. I went up to the black car waiting for me, got in and headed to the Avengers tower. The bustling roads of new york, lights from the big buildings were gorgeous from the ground. It was unique, it was not like anything I have seen before. Of course I have seen them from the sky but up close it was magical. I sat in the black leather seats of the car watching kids, couples, families, and working students cross crosswalks and stride along the sidewalks of the city.

The building of the avengers came into view as I looked out the window, the heavy box in my lap of my personal belongings starts to make my legs go numb.

We pull up to the build and I stumble getting out of the car. I wave to the drive and confidently walk up to the glass double doors. Swinging them open I walk up to the receptionist.

"Hi welcome to the Avengers tower do you have an appointment or do you need something else" she says, looking me up and down. I smirk, "Yes I am here for my new room in the tower what floor might that be?" she narrows her eyes. Picking up the phone and dialing a number she answers,

"Hello, so sorry to bother you Mr. Stark but we have a women here who claims she has a room in the tower and wants to know what floor. *Pause* Mhm, *pause* yes sir, *pause* of course, good bye" putting the phone down she looks me up and down again, what is this womens problem, "Stark is on his way down" I nod to her and stand waiting for the elevator doors to open.

Moments later the doors open and Tony Stark walks out with his arms open in a big welcoming gesture. "Ahhh, Hello Artemis good to see you, I see you took me up on my offer" I sigh and nod, "Well, come on then let me show you to your room" I walk behind him and get into the elevator, "I see you brought some of your belongings, I'll send someone to retrieve your other stuff"

"These are my only belongings"

"Oh" his face looks puzzled, "Well, we can change that" I cock my head and watch his face morph from emotion to emotion trying to piece things together in his head, "why did you accept, Cause I mean, you were pretty adamant about not joining so I mean,...." He trails off

"Fury sent me here, said I would be a good fit for this job but honesty I just think he was tired of me" I joke, Tony Laughs and puts a hand on my shoulder,

"I know we got off on a very wrong foot but I hope I can make it up to you, I hope you enjoy it here" I nod in thanks and watch the elevator numbers light up as we pass each floor 47, 49, 50, 57, 67, 69, 84, and finally we reach the 92 floor.

"We are very high up" I comment.

"It has good views, you kinda get used to the height" The elevator door opens to a very high ceilinged room with a chandelier and couches around a huge flare screened TV and a small kitchen area that sits off to the left. I step onto the floor. My boots clicking on the hardwood.

"Welcome to our humble abode" he announces. The room empty and silent as his voice rings out over the space. I cock and eyebrow.

"Interesting" I comment

"Thanks, Ms Moody" I roll my eyes

"Don't call me that" I threaten. Tony chuckles and walks across the room and towards a hallway. Trailing behind him I glance around and take in the hallway, many doors line the walls, some doors are adjar and some are closed. I continue to walk, following Mr Stark.

"This is it" He says. Grabbing the door handle and turning it Stark pushes the door open and walks in. I follow behind and stand just in the doorway. The walls were adorned in a rich, dark grey hue, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The color exuded a sense of tranquility, a stark contrast to the ones in the hall. A wall directly to the front of her or adjacent to the one closest to the hall was one giant window. This allowed natural light to flood the space during the day. The windows offered panoramic views, from cityscapes to open skies. The room was furnished with a mix of modern and functional pieces. A comfortable queen-sized bed with dark gray bedding dominated one corner. The windows sat comfortable next to the bed. The bed adorned with throw pillows that added a touch of personality (fire red and orange colors with dark green). A sleek, minimalist desk sat near the windows, equipped with a state-of-the-art computer where I could review mission details or catch up on dance videos (on youtube) or take dance classes over zoom if I wanted.

Adjacent to the bedroom, a walk-in closet boasted organization and style. Her dance costumes hung neatly alongside her Shield uniform. Shoes and accessories were meticulously arranged, reflecting her appreciation for both fashion and functionality. The en-suite bathroom was spacious and well-appointed. A large bathtub with white tiles invited relaxation. The vanity area featured ample counter space and a well-lit mirror, where I could prepare for the battlefield and Tony's so famous parties.

I walked through the rooms and when I reached the bedroom again, a compact stereo system played my favorite music softly in the background, creating a comforting ambiance. The box I was still held in my hands became heavy. I walked to the desk and with a thud put it down. Whirling to Tony, "Thank you" I say. I watch him nod an leave, giving me space to adjust. The only thing missing from the room was my personal touches. Shelves lined the walls. Grabbing some picture frames and trophies I line them up and sweep off dust as I stand back admiring my work.

It was beautiful here. I wonder how he got so much of this information about what I liked by I bet you Fury has something to do with it. I wish it had a couple more things but to be honest it was great. I walk back over to my box and pulled out a frame with Fury and I posed at my first mission because I had begged him to take a picture for me. I ended up printing it and framing it so I could have that memory for as long as I lived. I hold it gently in my hands and walk over to my bedside table. Putting it down I angle it to where I could see it if I were in the bed. The light reflection off of it; giving it an angelic type of look. I walk back to the cardboard box and put up the rest of my stuff.

—time skip—

I finished and looked at my door, I heard footsteps walking down the hall. A rapid knocking sound came from the door. I open it and see Thor standing there.

"Yes" I ask

"I am letting you know that the rest of the mortals and myself are eating dinner if you would like to join" He booms.

"Thank you Thor" I shut the door behind me as I turn away from him. I am in a pair of black leggings and a tight black crop top. YES, black on black doesn't match but hey, why not. I grab my phone off the desk and stride to the door again. I twist the handle and walk out heading through the hall and end up at the area with the very high ceilings and the living space and kitchen combined. I see the team sitting in the living room area with plate in their hands and chatter with laughter coming from their direction.

"Artemis" Tony yells, "I'm glad you came"

If i'm here I might as well have some fun, ready,

"Thanks" [just wait]

"Mr" [here it comes]

"Stank" [explosion noises] I say walking towards them

"Wow already starking the name calling wow" he places his hand over his heart in pretend hurt.

"Thanks" I retort with a smirk. Tony passes me a plate as I get close. I take a seat by him and just listen to the conversation. Time passes quick and I am the only one left in the room. I get up and start to head to bed. I change and get into my new bed. It is way too comfy for what I am used to so it takes a minute before my mind finally clears and I fall asleep.
