Akutagawa and Atsushi have been in "contact" ever since the cannibalism incident. In more ways than one. Atsushi has been showing up to work exhausted from sneaking around with his supposed enemy. He lies, saying he just stayed up late or went for a night walk. Of course, Ranpo knows but who's he to rat out the two young lovers? Besides, he's got secret relations too.

On this particular day, the weretiger and the port mafia employee sat cross-legged in their respective rooms. The mafioso, in his apartment. The detective in his shared dorm. Speaking of his roommate, she wasn't around. But that's a worry for later. Right now is about turning down Atsushis headphones down.

"Jesus christ could you shout any louder?" The white haired boy mumbled. Amused silence followed.

Adjusting his mic, the boy spoke again, "actually forget that."

He adjusted his volume and got back to the game. What game?

Fortnite.

They were playing Fortnite. Begrudgingly Akutagawa had agreed to it. He wasn't one for video games anyway but he would do it to make Atsushi happy. So now the pair were running from the storm, both half health, panicking. Well, Aku was panicking. Atsushi was staying calm, having done this a thousand times.

"I swear to Jesus above I'm going to murder the next person I see!" Akutagawa screeched down the mic. It was so loud that it glitched out slightly.

"That's really the point of the game." Atsushi stated.

"Shut up!" Replied the older boy.

Atsushi explored the map, gathering loot and killing enemy players. Because of this, the two had quickly gotten split up.

"Darling, if you don't tell me where the fuck you've gone I'm going to find you and actually take your life," Akutagawa screamed.

"There's a map in the top right corner, it'll show where I am."

"Are you the blue arrow?"

"Yes, yes I am," Atsushi said as if it were the most obvious thing ever.

The older boy traversed the pixelated hills catching up to the weretiger. Before he could get there, however, Atsushi was surrounded by two enemies. As skilled as he was, he was outnumbered.

"Get the fuck out of my way before I pump you full of bullets!" The usually quieter boy shouted.

Now, I'm aware that doesn't sound like Atsushi but when ten-year-olds try to take your victory crown, everyone can get a little angry.

The loud threats surprised Akutagawa. Nevertheless, he was thoroughly impressed.

"Damn," he muttered, " didn't think you had that in you."

Atsushi didn't respond, instead focusing on dealing with the current predicament. But he was flattered. Whenever he got compliments, it always made him feel a certain way. Much more than a certain way actually. As you all know, his start to life was extremely damaging, to say the least, never experiencing a drop of praise. And of course, as his partner, Akutagawa was well-informed of his poor situation. So, in a way very unlike his character, he tried to mend how broken the orphanage had left him, little by little.

Thankfully, the weretiger killed the two opponents.

"No! You bastard!" Dazais muffled voice was heard from a few rooms down. Atsushi laughed to himself. What were the odds that the player he just murdered was Dazai?

The odds were in fact, very large.

"Got 'em'," The younger boy said.

"Well done, love," Akutagawa said as he finally found Atsushi.

The mafioso could practically hear his boyfriends blush through the headphones. He had never been one to praise others, in his line of work it made him appear weak. And considering his background with a certain suicidal maniac, appreciation was like an alien species. But Atsushi was just... special. He could be himself, not worrying about judging eyes, he could actually be kind, without thinking his superiors might deem him unfit for his job.

But he would never tell the weretiger that, never tell him how much he made him truly feel, lest he appear fragile. Appear more than he was.

Of course, this all changed the moment the Detective Agency and the Mafia went toe to toe. As much as they tried to avoid each other during battles, it was inevitable that they would unfortunately meet. In situations like these, the pair always held back their attacks, much to their peers dismay. It had gotten to the point that Atsushi was sometimes forbidden from aiding his co-workers on the off chance Akutagawa might make an appearance. Everyone must know about their relationship right? Once, Kunikida confronted Atsushi after a fight, telling him he could not get his personal life tangled with work. If it weren't for Yosano he would have died from embarrassment. And his wounds.
