It was raining hard, as he walks home from school. It was cold, he was wet but as he passed through a park he saw something that made him stop.

Sitting in the empty parking lot In Central Park was a car, inside sleeping was the last person he expected to see.

Hi rival from camp, the daughter of the god who hated him and has attempted to kill Percy numerous times.

Clarisse La Rue, who despite their rivalry, despite the fact he always pretended otherwise.. Percy had secretly fallen in love with a couple summers ago ever since the Staten Island Chariot situation they had both sworn to each other to never speak of.

Percy glanced into the car at Clarisse concerned wondering if she was okay..but then decided she would probably be upset if he were to interfere.

He turned to walk away when he smelled it..

Somewhere a pipe in the car was leaking. His widened as he realized what was about to happen.

He raced to the car, grabbed her by the shoulder and dragged her out of the car.

Percy sensed it before it happened.. something inside him alerting him to danger.

He heard Clarisse yelling at him to let her go as he tackled her to the ground and covered her entire body with his own, creating a shield around her just in time before the car suddenly exploded.

The flames from the explosion seared across his exposed back, hit debris falling everywhere, some of it hitting his arms, legs and even across his back, even through the pain he didn't make a sound, just clutching Clarisse tightly making sure none of the flames or debris touched her.

It was only when the sound of falling debris stopped that he finally began to pull away..

His head was spinning, his vision making him dizzy..But still he managed to move enough so that when he collapsed back to the ground he was not crushing her.

"I'm so sorry.." he murmured before finally blacking out.

~~~
Clarisse stared at Percy's unconscious body in absolute shock, her ears still ringing from the explosion.
She had left camp, and had driven home as usual but when she had gotten there, instead of finding her mom she had found an empty house and a for sale sign in the lawn, a single note left on the front door with her name on it.
Clarisse,
If you find this note, I sold the house and moved to London, I never wanted kids, much less a worthless, pathetic brat like you that attracts monsters every where she goes. So this is me saying goodbye, you are no longer my problem."
Mom
She had refused to break, refused to cry even as the letter broke her heart.
Having no where to go she had climbed back into her car and driven back to New York attempting to return to camp, only for her car to suddenly stall and stop working as soon as she reached central park. Clarisse had been forced to push the car into the parking lot.
She didn't have any money for a cab, and drachma to call for help, so instead she had pulled her seat back, and pulled a blanket from her camping gear, and had decided to just sleep in the car, when only a few minutes later she felt someone grab her by the shoulder and yank her out of the car.
The moment she'd realized her attacker was shockingly Percy Jackson, a boy that had been her biggest rival for years, she had tried to yell at him to just leave her alone, but he had ignored her and pushed her to the ground, covering her completely with his entire body.
Then the reason for his actions suddenly revealed itself when her car suddenly exploded with a loud blast.
When Percy had finally moved off of her, she sat up and took in the sight of the car that was now nothing more then a burnt frame and charred tires.
Then finally she turned her eyes to the fully unconscious Percy Jackson.
She moved and knelt beside Percy to examine his injuries.
The back of Percy's school uniform shirt had desentigrated, the explosion had torn the flesh from his body leaving it a bloody charcoal mess, there were other burn marks, cuts and bruises on the back of his arms, legs and even his neck.
Clarisse still couldn't fully believe what she was seeing, but yet the evidence in front of her couldn't be denied.
Percy Jackson had not just saved her life, he had chosen to risk his own, taking injury to his own body just to protect Hers.
But why?
What kind of rival who was supposed to hate her, would willingly risk his life for hers?
She shook her self, she couldn't just sit here, Percy had saved her life, she had to find a way to save his.
She started patting his pockets checking to see if he had anything that might help, she blushed a bit when she reached into his mangled pant pocket and her hand accidentally brushed against the skin of his bare bottom, as some of his pants had been burned by the fire.
But then
."yes!" She gasped triumphantly as her hand comes back out clutching a golden drauchma.
She looks around the parking lot, and finds that the still falling rain was creating rainbows on the black asphalt ground of the parking lot.
"Please accept my offering." Clarisse spoke as she tossed the coin in.
"Camp Half-blood."
Immediately an image of Chiron and Mr. D playing cards pulled up.
"Chiron, I have Percy with me, and he's wounded, I need help getting him back to camp..I need someone to come get us.." Clarisse spoke quickly with urgency.
Chiron instantly looks worried "I'll send someone to get you."
Mr. D just looked bored as he continues to play his card game, while Chiron stands and turns to the campers who were currently enjoying dinner.
"Campers, I need a volunteer to run a rescue mission to collect Percy and Clarisse from Central Park.."
The image disappeared and Clarisse stayed beside Percy.
She found herself starting to pray
"If anyone up there is listening, He saved my life, please let help arrive in time to save him!"
Then she whispers to Percy, "Please hang in there, help is coming, you just gotta hold on."
