➪𝟏𝟐:𝟑𝟎 𝐩𝐦"Momma, look at the snow!" Evan squealed, his little body bouncing with excitement. I sat on the porch, a warm smile on my face, as I watched him revel in the simple joy of the snow. Even a few of the barn animals had wandered out, their fur fluffed up, as they sat in the cold whiteness. Seeing Evan's face light up made my heart swell, knowing he was finding happiness in something so pure.
I watched as he tried to build a mini snowman, mimicking the one I'd built earlier. I opened my mouth to praise him, but a faint whisper in my ear made my heart stutter. "Pull back... We need more reinforcements... Hashimoto, take some troops and go around the back..." My mind raced, my protective instincts flaring. There were dangers lurking, threats to my little boy's safety.
"Evan, it's getting colder. Let's go in and get some hot chocolate, baby," I said, forcing a bright tone. He shook the snow off his mittens, and I scooped him up, carrying him inside. We shed our coats and shoes, and I set him down, watching as he made a beeline for his toys. I headed to the kitchen, my movements practiced, as I worked to distract myself from the unease gnawing at me.
When I finished, I grabbed our cups, setting Evan's little one on the table. I headed to my herbal room, just across the hall, so I could still keep an eye on him. I surveyed my stores, the remnants of summer's harvest, and the fresh growth of winter. I decided to whip up a new batch of bath soap for Evan, his current supply running low.
It didn't take me long to mix everything together, but I was soon confronted with two little hands wrapping around my leg. I looked down, seeing Evan rubbing his eyes, a sure sign of impending sleepiness. "Are you tired?" I asked, already knowing the answer. We trekked upstairs to the bathroom, so he could use the potty before his nap.
When we finished, I took him to his room, changing him into cozy jammies. As soon as his head hit the pillow, he was out. I tucked the blankets around him, making sure he was comfortable, before slipping back out, and returning to my herbal room, ready to tackle the rest of my tasks.

➪𝟔:𝟎𝟎 𝐩𝐦Blowing out a subtle breath, I began cleaning up and started making dinner, knowing that Evan didn't have lunch considering his nap. Deciding on an early dinner, I considered making soup since it was cold and we could do it with some cozy food.
By the time I had everything cut up and ready to go, the sound of small feet pattering against the ground caused me to pause.
I looked over to the staircase to see Evan peeking around the edge, checking to see if I was looking. When our eyes met, he broke out in a giggle that made me giggle too. "Is that my baby giggling or someone else?" I said, which only caused him to laugh louder.
"Boo, I got you, didn't I, Momma?" he said as he ran towards me and wrapped his arms around my legs. I leaned down to pepper kisses on his face, "Of course you did, Mom he said as he ran towards me and wrapped his arms around my legs.
Leaning down to pepper kisses on his face, "Of course you did, momma was scared." I said before tickling his little belly.
"what are you making ?" he asked as I picked up on my hip and started to stir the pot of soup. grabbing a measuring spoon to taste to make sure it was flavorful. "I'm making soup Ev," I said grabbing another spoon so that he could taste it as well.
After a few minutes, the soup was now ready, walking to the cabinet to grab two bowls. Asking Evan which color bowl he wanted and he chose the red one. Portioning out some soup for us, then taking them to the table. Placing my bowl on the table then I grabbed Evan's bowl putting it in the fridge to cool down for a minute or so.
"So, Did you have a good day today baby?" while placing him in his chair in the dining room and grabbing his cup to put water in it. "I had a lot of fun, even when the baby cows came outside and lay in the snow. Also when I lay in the snow I could feel the snow get in my shorts which made me cold." trying to keep up with what he was saying in one breath.
"That's great honey, so tomorrow we might be able to go back outside again if it snows some more," I told him as I took his soup out of the fridge that was now cooled and ready for him to eat. after giving him something to eat, I sat in the chair next to him so that we could eat and enjoy the rest of our evening together.
