mingi sighed.

he glanced over at the stack of books that sat atop his desk. sure, he was supposed to be studying, and sure, he was not meant to be staring at the boy who pruned the palace's flowers, watered the plants, and fed the birds. but he had always been a bit of a rebel.

a knock interrupted his gazing session. "mingi?" a voice called out.

mingi toppled onto his bed, grabbing a book from a nearby shelf, and pretended like he was in the midst of reading, and not gawking at some boy.

hoongjoong peered from outside the room, the door cracked open. "you haven't been studying have you?" he questioned, an eyebrow raising to his hairline.

mingi frowned. "what makes you think that?"

"you're holding your book upside down."

mingi quickly turned it the right way up. "maybe i was trying to see things from a different perspective. you should try it."

hongjoong casted him a look, but nonetheless let the topic drop. "you know you have to finish writing the speech for the upcoming banquet?" he said, walking around the room, noticing the thin layer of dust on mingi's pristine books.

mingi paled.

"o-of course! i've already drafted it." he supplied, but hongjoong knew better. from the unkempt bed, and the dusty books, to untouched letters and mails stashed away in the crook of the shelf, he knew.

"alright. well. i'll leave you to it. make sure to have it done by the end of next week. you know how father is. maybe you'll finally ask out your boyfriend at the banquet. you know where to find me." was all hongjoong said before he slipped out the door.

mingi sighed, and tried to throw his pillow to the other side of the room, but instead of hitting the wall, the pillow made sure to hit a lamp, a shelf and some decor first.

he groaned, and set his book on the bedside table, took the other pillow and wallowed in self pity.

whatever was he going to do with himself?

yunho scowled at the bush of roses. those bugs are so pesky, he thought. with the rush of the upcoming banquet, the queen demanded to have all the preparation done by this week.

so far, he has only trimmed some bushes, pruned some flowers, watered the plants and replaced the soil. he has not fixed the hole in the palace wall, nor repaired the path way, or set up the decorations for the banquet.

as much as it was hard work, yunho understood why the queen had insisted that the palace garden be in tip top condition. the banquet was quite impressive, housing big feasts, dances and noble people. although yunho was not so much of a noble, he has been allowed at the party, as he was apart of the palace staff.

yunho smiled at the thought of seeing the prince again. as far as yunho knew, prince mingi has been cooped up inside his room, and had been ordered to finish his speech for the upcoming event. yunho felt bad, beeing cooped up inside couldn't have done the poor prince any good.

"stop thinking so loud, yunho." wooyoung, one of his friends and staff of the palace chided. "if you want to court the prince so bad, just give him some flowers in a vase or something. he's bound to be sooooo intrigued by the mystery of who placed it there, and soon you'll find yourself in your own fairytale." wooyoung sighed, making very obvious kissing noises and heart signs with his hands.

yunho grimaced, the thought of him sneaking into the palace and getting caught by mingi himself, didn't do any justice. but it was a good idea, he had to give it to wooyoung.
