Mave couldn't shake the image of Vegas standing up for his younger brother, despite the abuse he endured from his father. It was a glimpse into the complex dynamics of the major family, where loyalty and duty often outweighed personal safety.

As days passed, Mave found herself drawn closer to Vegas, not just out of a sense of duty but out of genuine admiration. She witnessed his resilience, his determination to protect those he cared about, and his unwavering commitment to his responsibilities.

One evening, as they sat in Vegas's office reviewing security protocols, Mave spoke up.

"You don't have to endure this alone, Vegas. There are ways to protect Macau without subjecting yourself to your father's abuse."

Vegas sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"You don't understand, Mave. My father's word is law in our family. If I go against him, not only will I put Macau in danger, but I'll also risk tearing apart everything my father has built."

"But at what cost, Vegas? Your well-being matters too. You deserve to be treated with respect, not as a punching bag for your father's frustrations."

Vegas's eyes flashed with irritation as Mave reached out to comfort him. He pulled away, his jaw clenched tightly.

"Stop. I don't need your pity, Mave. This is none of your business."

Mave recoiled slightly, stung by Vegas's harsh tone. She had hoped to offer him support, but it was clear that he wasn't receptive to her efforts.

"I'm just trying to help. You don't have to face this alone, Vegas."

"I said stop! You're my bodyguard, Mave. Nothing more. You're here to follow my orders, not pry into my personal life."

Mave swallowed her frustration, knowing that pushing further would only exacerbate the situation. She nodded stiffly, backing off as Vegas turned away, his expression closed off and guarded.

"My apologies, Khun Vegas. It won't happen again."

As they resumed their duties, an uncomfortable tension hung in the air between them. Mave couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled in the pit of her stomach. She had hoped to forge a deeper connection with Vegas, to understand the complexities of his life beyond the surface. But it seemed that he was determined to keep her at arm's length, to maintain the facade of strength and control even in the face of adversity.

A rapid knock at the door had them on alert and with Vegas' signal, a few bodyguards entered the room.

"What's the situation?"

One of the bodyguards stepped forward, his face grim.

"Sir, there's been an incident involving Macau. He's in danger."

Vegas's jaw clenched, his hands curling into fists at his sides.

"Take me to him."

But before Vegas could make a move, another bodyguard interjected.

"Khun Gun has ordered that you are not to leave the premises, sir. He insists on handling the situation himself."

Anger flickered in Vegas's eyes, but Mave saw the conflict within him. He wanted nothing more than to rush to his brother's aid, but his duty to obey his father's orders warred with his instincts to protect his family.

Mave stepped forward, her gaze unwavering.

"Khun Vegas, I can go and ensure Macau's safety."

Vegas's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly assessed the situation.

"But -"

"I'll bring Macau back safely. You need to trust me on this."

Reluctance lingered in Vegas's expression, but he nodded, a glimmer of gratitude shining through.

"Fine. But be careful. Macau's safety is my top priority."

"I won't let you down."

As she prepared to depart, Mave couldn't ignore the weight of responsibility resting on her shoulders. She knew the risks involved in defying Khun Gun's orders, but she also understood the importance of protecting Vegas's family, even if it meant going against his father's wishes.

With a steely resolve, Mave went out into the night, determined to bring Macau back unharmed and prove her loyalty to Vegas once and for all.
