Normally I am a very rigid perfectionist who refuses to share the initial rough draft of story. However... I was experiencing a very intense writer's block and I believe it was due to the amount of pressure I was putting myself under to be perfect.
To combat this, I decided to release the initial rough draft of The Mariposa and allow readers to watch it as I revise and clean it up. That decision has been a very difficult one for me, but I feel it was vital.
It is ROUGH. I am almost done with the first draft and when I am done, I will begin revisions in which there might be:
sections taken out
sections and even entire chapters added
characters fleshed out
backstories and worldbuilding fleshed out.
I am uncomfortable with the idea of taking readers along for that ride, but my hope it is that you all will remain open and help me to get past my perfectionism, and encourage me along my way as I fight my own personal superboss: WRITERS BLOCK.
