Slick stepped outside to inspect the cars on the trailer and ensure that everything was securely fastened before they hit the road. Jackie occupied the passenger seat of the truck. After verifying that everything was in order, they set off on their journey.
However, Jackie couldn't shake off the feeling of unease about the situation. He desperately needed the money, so he tried to brush off his concerns and push through.
Jackie glanced over at Slick and asked, "Why did you put car covers over the cars?"
Slick started to stutter as he replied, "Uh, see they both just got new paint jobs. I didn't want any bugs to mess up the paint while we were driving down there."
Jackie replied, "I can understand that. Bro, I thought your brother was in prison. When did he get out?"Slick quickly answered, "he was. He got out two weeks ago."
Jackie was being noisy,"He just got out and he got money like that?"
Slick was startingto get annoyed,"He has always been big on saving his money.
Then he knows plenty of ways to get money."Jackie wanted to make sure everything was legit. So he asked Slick, "so there is nothing illegal going on with this run?"
Slick frustrately answered, "Yes bro everything is all good. There is nothing to be worried about."
Jackie felt relieved after hearing that, it made him feel better about everything. "Hey man, I just wanted to make sure. I had an odd feeling about all of this. It just feels too good to be true. Your words are reassuring and it makes me feel better about everything."
Slick looked at Jackie, "Trust me, bro everything is ok Just sit back and relax. We are going to make this easy money. And head on back home."
Jackie set back and put his glasses on while Slicked turned up the radio and put the truck on cruise control.
Two hours later, Slick and Jackie arrived at an empty warehouse in Atlanta, the location Slick's brother had sent him to.
Jackie appeared to be confused and asked, "Is this the right place? It looks abandoned."
Slick looked around to make sure that they were at the correct location. "This is the address he sent me. Let me give him a call." Slick dialed his brother's phone number and asked, "Hey Chris, I pulled up to the address you sent me, but it seems to be empty. Did I come to the right place?"
Chris responded, "Yeah, give me a second." One of the garage doors at the warehouse opened up, revealing a short, heavy-set man wearing big glasses who was signaling for them to come inside.
Jackie turned to Slick and asked, "Is that your brother?"
Slick looked twice at the man standing at the door and said, "No, I don't know who that is."
Jackie started feeling anxious and said, "Let's wait until we see your brother before we do anything."
The man at the door was still insisting that they come inside. Slick suggested, "I think it's safe. Let's park the truck inside the warehouse and see what he wants to tell us."
Jackie was feeling uneasy and said, "You go talk to him. I'll stay in the truck." Slick drove the truck inside the warehouse, got out and went to speak to the man at the door.
Slick walked up to the gentlemen, "How are you doing is Chris here?" The Heavy-set man replied,"Nice to meet you I'm Pee Wee. I work with your brother. He told me to let y'all in. Chris is in the back he will be up here shortly."
Slick shook Pee Wee hand, "Nice to meet you. That's my partner Jackie in the truck."
Pee Wee was trying to figure out why Jackie didn't get out. "Is he scared to get out?"
