I was outside sitting by the water, letting the it flow over my calves. I kept having flash backs of that day me and Ari started hanging out again. I didn't know what to do so I just started, talking to Callie, hoping she could hear me from wherever she was.

"I want you to know that there will never be a time where I will forget you. You'd turn 15 soon. I'm sorry you wouldn't be able to celebrate it." I felt tears starting to form in my eyes, so I stopped myself.

"Who are you talking to?" I heard a boy's voice coming up from beside me. I turned to look at him, he had curly blonde hair and eyes almost like mine. He was holding a rock that looked like it had been carved.

"Your Ari's friend. I used to see you guys play outside all the time. I also heard about Callie, I'm so sorry you had to go through that." He sat down, fidgeting with the rock.

"How did you know about Callie..." I looked at him, shocked because no one really announced her passing. Nor was it on the news.

"I grew up with Ari and Callie. Our moms are also best friends. But we kind of, grew apart a couple years back. When my mom told me and my sister about Callie, my first thought was you and Ari. You guys were together all the time, like you were siblings in a way." How come no one ever told me about him? and his sister? I've lived here for 5 years and I'm just now meeting him. I didn't even know his name, let alone how old he was.

"Look, I don't know your name, but I do know who you are. You're the girl who's saving Ari's life." He placed the rock next to me and started to stand up.

"Lyric" I stopped him.

But he didn't say anything. He just smiled and walked off. Guess I'll never get to know his name. I picked up the rock and admired it until I saw something on it, "Braker" was carved into the bottom of the rock. Guess I know what his name is now.

It was getting dark, I picked myself up off the ground and walked home, the rock still in my hand. I stayed up until three just look at this rock, there was just something about it. It was carved into a rose, but it wasn't a natural rose rock. He must have craved it himself. I love roses, they remind me of Callie.

Roses made me remember the time we rode our bikes to a field full of flowers, mainly roses. We picked the prettiest and most lively ones to take back home. Unfortunately, on the ride back, I dropped them. I felt so guilty and mad at myself. But Callie kept reassuring me that it was okay and that we would go back and get more another day.

I could go on and on about things that remind me of her. Like how it smells outside after it had been raining for hours or eating s'mores after swimming in freezing cold water. Callie made everything positive. Never once was she upset or mad. She was just made of joy. I wish I was like that.

I finally fell asleep. When I woke up, I could hear slight whispering by my window, then a knock. I quietly moved my dresser out of the way, it wasn't that heavy, so it moved easily.

"Hey." It was Braker, I could hear two girls behind him, but the wall was covering their faces. Then they peaked around the wall. It was a blonde girl and, Ari?

"Hi Lyric" Ari smiled at me. I was in shock and questioning why she was here.

"I convinced her to stop hiding, you looked a little down yesterday so I thought you could use a little cheering up, especially from your best friend." I didn't know who this boy was, just his name and that I really wanted to hug him.

"I also brought my sister, Laci" He pointed to her. She smiled and then went back to talking to Ari.

"Wanna go to a flower field?" It's like he knew about the roses.

He held out his hand and I grabbed it; he helped me out of the window, and we went to grab my bike. I saw three other bikes at the end of my driveway, which must have been theirs. This was finally my chance to bring back those roses for Callie. Whoever Braker was, he was definitely my hero in this moment.

We got to the field, it looked more beautiful than I remembered. I immediately ran to the roses, grabbing all the prettiest ones. I brought them back to my bike and sat them on my seat. Then ran to Ari and the others. Before I could say anything, Ari immediately jumped into my arms giving me a hug. In this moment I felt absolutely nothing, just happiness. Thank God I had my best friend back.

That whole day we spent laughing and running around the field, but the day always comes to an end. So, we went back home. It was just me and Braker now. His sister went inside, and Ari went to her house, Braker and Laci's house was down the road from ours. But I stopped Braker before I went home.

"Thank you, so much. I owe you" I smiled at him.

"You don't owe me anything, Lyric" He smiled back then walked inside.

I started to make my way back home, but there was one thing I needed to do. I rode my bike to the nearby graveyard. I looked at the headstones looking for a specific one, they were in alphabetic order, P, Q, R, finally! S. I found Callies. I kneeled down to the height of the stone and places the roses against it.

"Finally went back and got more roses, just like you promised we would." I couldn't help but cry, but I wasn't sad. I was happy. I knew she was there with us that whole day.
