[ 1 year later ]

Today, exactly 1 year ago. She introduced herself to the family.

As the comforting sounds of cooking filled the air, you descended the staircase to investigate. You enter the kitchen and you discovered your mother and the maids are busy preparing breakfast.

It was a perfect Sunday morning, a family day.

Along with her mother. I'm surprised she made an impact with this broken family of ours.

You make your way back upstairs to check on Lisa, you positioned yourself in front of her bedroom door and knocked gently. "I'm coming in." You announced with a playful tone. Opening the door, you bounced onto Lisa's bed.

"Hey, hey! I'm awake now." Lisa uttered, attempting to push you from on top of her. You rise to your feet and cross the room to draw her curtains, allowing the gentle morning light to hit Lisa's face. She shielded her eyes.

"Get up and wake Rosie." You instructed, referring to their sister. "You wake her up." Lisa groaned. "No way, you wake her up. I always do it! Come on, give it a try. She won't bite." She says, pulling the covers over her head.

Maybe I was in love.

"Well, I'm afraid to make her angry, and you... you're exceptional-" You began, but were interrupted by Lisa, who sat up in bed and fixed her gaze upon you. "Because I'm her sister?" She queried. You nodded.

"You know, it's been a whole year, and you haven't made an effort to get closer to her." Lisa pointed out.

"Alright, alright. I'll wake her up." You groaned, rolling your eyes. Leaving Lisa's room, you approached Rosé's door, taking deep breaths to get ready for what's about to happen. Lisa, now standing in the doorway, leaned against the frame, offering you silent encouragement.

You gently knocked on Rosé's door and anxiously awaited her response. Praying silently that she wouldn't be mad, the door creaked open slightly, revealing a glimpse of Rosé's face.

Maybe, I am because every time she looks at others, I get upset.

"Hey." You greeted her, flashing a warm smile and waving your hand reassuringly. She looks at you. "Um, Mom's making breakfast. We'll be waiting for you downstairs." You informed her before retreating.

As you walked away, Lisa gave you a thumbs up, and you smile and did the same.

Especially, Lisa

The family gathers around the dining table, enjoying a peaceful meal together. As four family members chat, Rosé remains quiet, savoring her food in silence.

Yet, her eyes flicker in your direction every now and then, observing you closely, especially when you engage in conversation with Lisa.

It feels surreal because Rosé, who was once supposed to despise and hurt you, no longer has that.

She noticed that seven months ago. She no longer joins his friends to hurt you and talk about shits. Her friends were taken aback by this sudden change in Rosé's behaviour but they still continue bullying you.

However, neither her friends nor anyone in school knows that you and the two sisters are step siblings. The secret of your familial connection remains secret.

About Yeonjun, he tries everything to get in touch with you, always waiting for you in front of school just to say the same thing. "Please let's get back together and I'll make it right."

You had to deal with two things, the bullying and your ex-boyfriend. It was already so much, it's killing you.

And you found out why he's back and haunt you again is because he heard that you and the two sisters are step siblings and you can see why's back again. Money.

After finishing breakfast, you volunteer to wash the dishes despite the maids offering to take care of it. They insist, but you stand in your decision.

Your stepfather and mother sit together on the porch, discussing their plans for their upcoming anniversary.

"You know, there are maids for a reason." Rosé says, catching you off guard. You almost drop a plate in your hands and slowly turning towards her, you see Rosé seated on one of the dining chairs.

"I'm just stubborn." You reply, flashing a smile. As you reach for the dishwashing soap to clean the dishes.

Rosé grabs a towel and prepares it on the countertop. Grabbing the clean plates and utensils you have finished washing, she gently places them on the towel.

You looked at her surprised. "What's gotten into you?" You ask.

Rosé meets your gaze, unsure of how to respond. "Nothing." She mumbles, avoiding eye contact, before returns her attention to the task at hand. The two of you continue working in silence.

Then, breaking the silence, Rosé asks, which catches you off guard and unable to respond.

"Do you believe in stories about step sisters falling in love?"
