I remember you
The bitter taste of wine and licorice
Sharp glass beneath my feet
Wet hair hanging in strings down my back
Once you set the world on fire and made me watch it burn
I thought for a moment
I could find beauty in the ashes
But you slapped me and the fire flew into my cheeks
As you said, "have I got your attention now?"
The moon got yellower around you
And the stars faded to black
Guess they were the ones who told you
I was never coming back
I looked up at the sky and saw
Clouds
Cheerfully dying as they blew by
And I decided I had more substance than a cloud so I left early that day
But your bullet blew me away, anyway.
