I could hear Aurora's raspy breathing against my chest. I knew that my little mate had passed out, no doubt from her numerous injuries. Though I pleaded with her to stay awake. I was afraid that Aurora had a collapsed lung, or worse she had internal bleeding and could be dying in my arms. Every possible injury was running through my mind. I could feel her whimpering softly. We had to get to the pack doctor quickly, if we were to help Aurora. My worst nightmare had come true, seeing the state that Aurora was in. One of her beautiful eyes was swollen shut and her nose looked slightly crooked, no doubt broken. What did they do to her? How could her own mother do such horrible things to her own daughter? Seeing the state of my mate, and the extent of her injuries. It took all I had not to go back and rip Edwina Bennett to shreds. To watch her bleed like she made her own daughter bleed, to see the life fading from her eyes. But I knew that I had to wait until Aurora was recovered and out of harms way. I needed her to recover without anxiety. We would convene the Great council after Aurora was recovered. It would be then that Edwina Bennett would be brought to justice. And we would see the treaty amended so that no more would suffer the fates that Aurora and her siblings had suffered at their mother's hands. So that no witch would suffer the fate that Marina did.

We soon pulled up to st. Thomas Hospital. Where my pack doctor had been practicing both human and wolf medicine for the last 30 years. I knew he was working tonight, and Aurora needed a hospital rather then the doctor's office at the pack house. My driver walked around and opened my door. I got out, while cradling Aurora to my chest. Doing my best to shield her from the cold. I knew that it would be an odd sight. A man half dressed bringing in a woman unconscious and bleeding. But I didn't care, there was no time to go and change, not when Aurora needed immediate medical attention. She may need surgery to save her life.

"Help! I need help, my fiance needs help," I called as I entered the ER. The two nurses who were sitting at the desk rushed over to me. Both looking over Aurora, I heard the gasps at seeing her injuries. They rushed me over to a bed where they motioned for me to lay her on the bed. I did so and they immediately went to work.

"Page doctor Tallis, now," one of the nurses called to another nurse that had arrived. Who then turned on her heels and raced to the desk, to call doctor Tallis to the ER. I held Aurora's small hand tightly. Not wishing to leave her. I knew that my presence would help her. But these nurses were human, they didn't understand the bond that I shared with Aurora. Why I was hovering over her the way I did.

"Sir, I am going to need you to step back, so we can assess your fiance," the nurse said. I shook my head, I was never leaving Aurora ever again. The nurse tried to insist I leave, but I snarled darkly at her. The nurse jumped back, terrified of me.

"Let me take it from here," Tallis said. Appearing next to the nurse who was cowering on the other side of the bed. She didn't need any more encouragement. She raced away from us. Tallis shut the curtains, giving us privacy. Tallis' eyes looked over my injured mate.

"Alpha, forgive me. I know you want be with your mate, be by her side. But I need to examine her, I need to get her up to imaging to make sure that she doesn't have any internal bleeding. You can hear her breathing, there is a chance that she has a collapsed lung," Tallis said softly. He reached out and touched my shoulder.

"I can't leave her, Tallis. You know mates heal better when their other half is around. And it is only amplified with me being an alpha. I can't lose her... I can't lose her," I whispered. Staring at her beaten body. I was so worried for her. I need to know that she was alright. That she would make through the night.

"I know Alpha, I know. But please trust me. Once I know her condition. I will send one of my nurses to give you an update right away. You have my word for it," Tallis added. I slowly let go of her hand, knowing that my pack doctor was right. Even if my wolf didn't want to leave her, I knew that she needed a doctor's attention. I left the bay and went over to the waiting area. The jumpy nurse just eyed me wearily. It wasn't long before I was joined by Antony and Octavia. Antony had a bag over his shoulder.
