As I stood backstage awaiting my turn, my heart was beating with feelings of nervous and excited energy. I ran my hand over my thinning gray hair, feeling all the wisp that were left. Once they call my name I'll finally be back on the stage with my old pal, Steve Martin.
I hear my name being called, and suddenly I'm pushed out into the blinding lights and roar of the crowd. I feel Jimmy's hand grab me and pull me up the steps. He lands a soft and subtle kiss on the cheek and pulls me in for a hug. Did I feel the tightening of his pants? No, surely not? Although he did reach down and rearrange his member. At 82, at least I still got it.
"Paul I want to congratulate you on your album, Seventh Pslams. It was very beautiful, my wife loved it!"
"Oh thank you Jimmy I really appreciate that. It came to me in a dream and it's been made a reality ever since." After getting my well deserved praise, I begin to question where my pal Steve was at?
"Hey Jimmy? Where is my good friend Steve?"
Jimmy begins to look around nervously. He shoots a glance over to his legendary Roots band. I sat wondering what mess I was about to be in.
"Well Paul, I guess they didn't tell you backstage but there was a little change in plans with our guest list tonight. Steve Martin was unable to make it. But, we did manage to find a replacement guest. Any guesses as to who the lucky guest is?" I turned my head around nervously, my eyes never leaving the show curtains.
"Oh is it someone I know?" My hands began to sweat.
"Oh I think you know him very well. Maybe better than you know yourself Paul." What did he mean by that? No one knows me better than I know me. It couldn't be him. No? Right?
"I don't know Jimmy, I give up. Bring him out." Jimmy begins to pull his face into a smirk.
"Alright come out mystery guest!" The curtains begin to open. My eyes never leaving them. I can't believe who I saw....
