IN A FRANTIC rush, Sora tried to get into contact with Astrid. Her phone was pressed up against her ear, listening to the incessant ringing tone of her call trying to reach her best friend. Unable to sit still, Sora was fidgeting with her fingers and picking at the little threads that stuck out from the comforter.
As soon as she woke up the next morning, the first message Sora saw on her phone's lockscreen was sent by none other than her co-star, Jaesung. With how friendly the two have been with each other on set and in front of the cameras, Sora was expecting was a simple goodnight or some friendly text like that, but what she read trailed far from that expectation. After reading it, her anxiety got the best over her, and she started breathing rapidly as her heart started beating louder within her chest, all while continuously waiting for the call to be picked up.
Suddenly, all went quiet when the call was eventually picked up, and the sound of Astrid groaning on the other end was a key hint that the woman was in the middle of a rather deep slumber. "Why are you calling me so late at night? I'm sure you understand timezones by now, Sora, with you being an international star and all," Astrid mumbled sleepily, sounding like her phone was mushed between her head and pillow.
Sora took a deep breath to calm the race her heart was running before responding to Astrid in a clear tone, "Jaesung asked me out on a date."
This moment was one that neither Sora nor Astrid would have been able to see coming. With how distant Sora was from the public for the past three years and how focused she was on raising Kouta, there was little hope or need for her to get into another relationship. The circumstances from her prior marriage made her feel like the bad guy, and she always assumed that she was the root of the problem. Apart from the time and mental constraints pulling her down, Sora never felt like she wanted another relationship, but this morning's message threw that narrative out the window. Maybe those panging feelings in her chest for the past year meant something.
Her feelings for Jaesung weren't entirely a new phenomenon, but it wasn't until this morning that those strange sensations finally made sense to Sora. Ever since she was informed about her role in the movie, she was excited to get a new chance at acting on the big screen alongside a fresh set of talented actors and actresses. On the very first day of filming, Sora officially met the man she would stand beside for a majority of her scenes in the movie. A simple look up at the man's handsome feature caused her heart to run like a racecar on a racetrack. Sora wasn't aware that such a flawless man was capable of turning her into a messy bag of jumbled up words, especially since it's been a while since she's felt like that.
Losing herself in her own thoughts, Sora listened to muffled sounds and Astrid's bed springing up and down from the other end of the call. She was fully aware that news like this would have gotten her best friend up quicker than a morning cup of plain, black coffee would. The woman was one for any type of drama or gossip she could get her hands on. "He... what?!" Astrid asked, wanting to confirm her hearing was, in fact, working properly. "I'm only telling you once more. Jaesung... asked me out," Sora confirmed Astrid's suspicions, yanking the phone away as she heard uncontrollable squealing from the other side.
