Clovers in summer rain

Chapter 1

Reed'star awoke from her dream startled.. She glanced beside her to see her mate, Juniper'fur sleeping peacefully with a few rays of sunshine peaking through the lichen at the entrance of her den resting on his mottled brown tabby fur. She rose from her nest and sleepily walked towards a puddle of water to take a few drinks.

She heard a small mew come from the apprentices den, it was her kit white'paw. The small young brown and white apprentice skipped her way happily towards her mother.
"Good morning mother! Can I pleaseee go out with you on morning patrol today?" The young she asked, her eyes gleaming with hope. Reed'star thought for a moment, it would be good to have extra eyes on patrol today. Especially because of the vision she had received in her sleep. "Alright White'paw , you can come with me this morning.. Go fetch your brother okay?". White'paw nodded happily and trotted back into the apprentices den.

The morning air was crisp with slight humidity, it had drizzled last night. The clan began to stir awake from the peaking rays of the sun. Reed'star caught a glimpse of her deputy Viper'fang stretching his way out of the warriors den and summoned him with a flick of her tail. The young black, short haired Tom padded towards her and sat a tail length far from her. "Yes Reed'star?". The young Tom asked his leader as he started to groom himself ready for the day. "Viper'fang, I want you to lead extra patrols today and check the most outer parts of our territory". Reed'star said swiftly, not wanting any other cats to hear near by. The deputies ears pricked up. "Of course Reed'star, but what worries you?". The Tom asked sitting up looking at Reed'star with concern.

She took a deep breath and nudged closer to her deputy so that no other cat would hear and cause a panic.. "I had a vision last night, the forest was getting destroyed by these black and yellow beasts and chaos was everywhere". She paused as she remembered the details of her dream. "My father had come and told me that a foe would come to the forest"."An enemy too powerful for us to fight back and that we must, leave the forest". Reed'star said leaving out the gruesome some details of seeing her clan being squashed and killed mercilessly.

Viper'fang stayed silent for a moment to process his leaders dream.. "Alright Reed'star, but what enemy haven't we defeated though?".
"We have a large and healthy clan with many warriors, I'm sure we could defeat this enemy without leaving". Viper'fang said with challenge in his voice, he didn't understand how big, or how powerful these monsters were.
Before Reed'star could say he was wrong her daughter White'paw came trotting towards her calling her name with her brother Bark'paw behind her. Reed'star got up and turned away for her deputy. "We'll talk more about this later".

"Bark'paw, go get Brook'song and Brindle'face from the warriors den, they'll join us with todays patrol". Reed'star asked her son and he ran towards the warriors den to fetch the two warriors. White'paw looked at her mother she could tell something was worrying her. "What's wrong mom? You seem worried". Reed'star licked the top of her kits head in reassurance.

Brook'Song and Brindle'face trailed behind their leader and her two kits. So far the patrol had gone smoothly and all was well. Reed'star decided they could take a break to rest and hunt since they went to the farther part of the territory. They all caught a few voles and mice to bring back to camp as they were on their way back a loud crash rung through the forest. Each cat flinched and their hackles rose at the sudden sound. Reed'star knew what would come next if they didn't get back to camp in time. "Drop all the prey! We must run back to camp and get the clan out of the forest immediately". Reed'star demanded running towards the camp as fast as her paws would carry her.

As Reed'star rammed through the camps entrance she was greeted by her deputy. Viper'fang had already began getting everyone ready, he knew that Reed'star would decide to leave. "Thank you Viper'fang, I'm sorry I wasn't here to help". Reed'star brushed her tail against his shoulder as she walked towards the clearing. "All cats of breeze clan gather for a clan meeting". "I'm sure you all heard the loud rumbling and crashes.. I've gotten a message from star clan that we must move".
"We face an enemy far too powerful to fight, I didn't think it'd happen so soon but we must leave now". Reed'star said looking at all the shocked and worried cats.

She began to gather all of the clan around the camps exit for the first time all day Juniper'fur finally spoke to Reed'star. "Reed, I haven't spoken to you at all today". He said brushing his muzzle against her cheek. "When I woke up you had already left on morning patrol". Reed'star licked Juniper'furs chest apologetically. "I'm sorry, I had a lot on my mind.. But we must get to leaving before we get killed". Reed'star shouldered her way infront of the group of cats. "Are you all ready breeze clan! We will make it through this". "You are the strongest warriors I've ever laid eyes on and I am honored to be your leader. Now let's go!".
