*Aprils POV*

"...But John you can't leave me. I love you so much!" I sobbed.

"April our story has three parts: a beginning, a middle, and an end. And although this is the way all stories unfold, I still can't believe that ours didn't go on forever."

As he said this he leaned down and gave me one final...........

"April Wilhelmina Stokes! You better be awake, dressed and downstairs in 10 MINUTES!"

I woke with a start, my mothers shrill voice filling the house and destroying my peaceful dream.

"Well that's the last time I watch Dear John before bed," I muttered sitting up in bed rubbing the weird gunk out of my eyes.

"I'm serious about this April. We have to leave in a hour and I want to make sure you have everything you need for your trip." My mother shouted up to my room, "Oh and make sure you take the dress I bought for you sweetie!"

"I already packed it mom!"

I got out of bed and walked over to my dresser where on top was my outfit for the flight.

(A/N link to her outfit is on my profile )

I took them into the bathroom down the hall and showered, brushed my teeth and put on my makeup in record time. I was brushing my hair as I walked downstairs where my mother quickly pounced on me with a plate of toast and tears shining in her eyes.

"Here eat this, I'm not having you eat that awful airport food! Imagine how unhealthy it is!" She choked out, " While you eat I'll braid your hair like I used to when you were still a little girl"

With that statement my mother's shields fell down. Her tears escaped, her breathing became harsher and my heart broke.

I took the plate from her hands, placed it on the couch along with my hairbrush and put my arms around the woman who raised me all those years on her own, being strong for me. I decided now it was time for me to take care of her.

"Oh momma just because I'm leaving for a year it doesn't mean I'm not your little girl anymore! Just because we'll be 6000 miles from each other doesn't mean I won't call you for advice and to tell you I love you."

"Oh baby I know. It's just you've never been this far away from me before and I'm going to miss you so much!" Her eyes started to fill up again, "No, no I'm not going to cry. Now go sit down at the table while I fix your hair."

While she braided my hair I wondered what my life in Athens would be like. Would I make friends? Would my professors be nice? Huh, I really shouldn't focus on that. Athens will be a great experience for me and the University of Economics and Business will teach me great things. I'm very grateful that my college gave me the opportunity to study in Greece for a year.

I was standing by security at the airport, I was just about to leave my mother for the next year. She was giving me a list of places to visit. Nearly all of them were temples devoted to Poseidon. She was always obsessed with the God, it was almost worrying!

"Oh and remember your uncle will pick you up from the airport. And be careful with Greek men, I know just as well as anyone how charming they can be!"

Although she loved me my mother did not love the circumstances in which I was conceived. She refused to tell me anything of my father except that she met him at party back in Greece when she was my age. After she found out that she was pregnant with me she left her home so she could provide better for me here in Florida. She was only twenty but she gave up everything for me and I will be forever grateful.

I reassured her and left after hugging her. Well this is it. I'm off to Greece!

(Ares POV)

As I walked along the streets of the mortal world I felt a longing in my heart. My lover had long since lost her appeal. I wanted a wife, a woman who would bear my children and my children alone. A woman who I could love. However, none of the women on Olympus could hold my interest.

It was frustrating!

As the summer drew to an end the autumn equinox approached with great speed. This year I believe I will forego the festivities on Olympus and join the mortals. I'm sure I can find a woman to sate my desires then.
