Best Friend Or Crush?

Chapter 3- Joshit

I didn't sleep a wink last night. I tossed and turned for 2hours until my homies complained and kicked me out of bed. I spent all night trying to come up with the best way to end things with her. Nah, because imagine walking up to her and saying, "Let's break up" out of the blue. I needed to use some reverse psychology (although I can't for the life of me understand how it ever works).

After about 3hours of grave thoughts, I decided to go with, "Riya, I'm sorry but I don't think we are going to work out." Hopefully emphasizing on we would highlight the fact that she's better off with him and not me.

And now, here we are at some monument I don't even bother to know the name of. I figure this is the best time to approach her - she's clicking photos with Anayra. Gathering all the confidence and ego I have in me, I stride up to them, hands in my pocket (again).

"Hey.", I give them a tight smile.

"Oh Joshi baby, what's up?"

I think she notices my solemn expression because her smile fades. Anayra looks at me with a poker face knowing exactly what's gonna happen. "What?", Riya questions after 1 minute of loud silence.

I close my eyes and brace myself to hear what's going to come out of my mouth next. "Riya, I'm sorry but I don't think we are going to work out." There. I said it. I force my eyes open only to see an emotionless and expressionless Riya (which is highly unusual). Anayra winces. We all stand rooted to our spots for what feels like hours with Riya staring into my soul until she says, "Okay.", and walks away.

Wait wha-? "Okay" ?! What the f-

I expected something like "I knew you were a red flag" or "I should've listened to the others" but definitely not 4 letters. Yeah, I know I was breaking up with her and expecting her to put in any effort to save this relationship was pointless. But I assumed that at least for the sake of her reputation, she'd try to flip the whole thing at me or at least ask me why. None of that?!

I really am dumb. None of this ever meant anything to her. Duh, what was I even thinking? I'm glad we're over.

Sorry again for such a short chapter😭It's just that my exams are going on and I'm kinda stressed.. But stay tuned! I'll be posting the next chapter next week! I promise it'll be full of thrill.. But do leave comments on your fav pair - Riya and Josh or Anayra and Josh?
