Today was the day that I was going to meet him, Noah Miller. I am sure as hell freaked out. I walked into my office, 2 hours before the I’m going to be introduced to him.
“Hey, Michael.” I hear a familiar voice calling my name. Cody, he works with me. He walked into my office, leaning against the door frame. “Hi.” I replied back to him. I don’t really know what to say, because I’m meeting a killer in 2 hours. “Hey, thank you. You taking Noah, is helping me keep my job.”
Yep. Noah is so well known, when the public finds out where he’s going they're going to go crazy. More so if we keep him under control.
Saint David, my work. Is starting to lose money, and bringing Noah here will help us keep our jobs.I nodded, not looking away from his file. “Hey, Mike.” Cody says. I close the file and look at him. “Michael, I told you.” He nodded, “Yeah, sorry, Michael,” He softly chuckled while playing with his fingers.
“I was, uhm, hoping maybe we could, y’know. .Get coffee or something?” He says shrugging putting his hands in his pocket. I look up at him, sighing softly. Yes, he’s a nice guy, nice built, handsome, but do I really need to date someone right now? “Cody.” I breathed out, looking at him. He nodded. “Yeah, My bad,” He mutter softly. “Wrong time, see you around, Michael.” He said exiting the room.
I felt bad, but I’m not into him. I hear another knock on the door, “Come in.” I tell them, it’s someone I’ve never seen before. “Hello, my name is Maddison. I’m Noah’s therapist, I’m the one transferring him to you.” She tells me. I look at her before nodding her to the seat in front of me. She sits down.
"Hello, Maddison, nice to meet you.” I say, extending my hand towards hers. She shakes my hand. “Yes, hello. Michael Afton?” She asks me. While pulling out a folder.
I nod my head. She glances up at me, before looking down at her folder. “I’m here to make sure you’re ready.” She asked me the question like I’m entering a life-or-death competition. I nod yet again. “You’ve only been working as a therapist for 3 years.” She informs me of something I’m already aware of.
“Yes, though I am very dedicated to my work.” I told her. She nods her head, I lean over a little to get a glimpse of what she was looking at. It was my file of all my patients I’ve had. She seems to notice that I see it. She looks up at me, closing her folder. Raising an eyebrow at me, above her glasses that sit on her face. “You’ve never had a patient like Noah.” She tells me.
Well, obviously I’ve never had a patient like him. “Noah. He seems to be one of a kind.” I told her. She chuckles, seemingly to sound like a mock. “You’re preaching to the choir,” She says, shaking her head at me, smiling. “Be that as it may, I’m not here to chit-chat. More so, inform you of what is to come.”
She said, looking at me. Crossing one leg over the other. “Noah is very observant, very. He knows how to get under your skin. He will say things to surprise you, to see your reaction.” I let the information skin in. “Like a master manipulator?” I asked her.
She smiles, “Now you’re getting it. Noah’s IQ is 201. He is smart. He can trick you very easily. He can also tell when you’re lying.” She tells me. Why the hell did it not tell me this in the paper work?
It sounds like I’m dealing with a criminal mastermind. She studies my face, “You’ll be a little different for Noah. As well as the gender.”
She stands up. Then it hits me. “What did bunny skin mean?” I ask her, looking at the wall behind her. “Mm, it seems you did read the report, huh,” She sucks her teeth. She looks at me, “Noah will be here shortly.” She says walking out the room. “Did she just ignore me,” I scoff. “Rude.” I comment rolling my eyes. Leaning back in my chair.
Noah’s smart, something I need to watch out for. He could easily kill me, though she didn’t warn me of anything like that. It just feels like something I should be worrisome over.
I was scrolling through my computer, when I heard a knock. My boss walks through the door, with someone I’ve dreaded to meet for the past week. My boss nods his head to Noah who sits down in front of me. Then my boss leaves.
“H-hello, Noah, nice to meet you.” I extend my hand towards his. My hands tremble when he shakes my hand. His hand is way bigger than mine. Strong and rough. He looks me up and down. “Why so scared.” It sounds more like a scoff than an actual question. “I’m not.” I told him. He looks at me and smiles. “Whatever you say.”
I nod, “I spoke with Maddison, she came in here earlier.” I tell him, his eyebrows furrow. “Who’s Maddison?” He looks at me confused. I stop and study his face, looking for any signs of him lying or joking. I couldn’t find one.
“Was she not your therapist?” I asked him. Looking over at his eyes. One blue the other brown with a hint of blue. He had pretty eyes. “Hm, not that I know of,” He shrugs, leaning back in his chair. Crossing his arms.
I shudder but try to hide it under a smile. “No wife?” He asks, I look at him. He’s looking at my ring finger. Nothing was there. I shake my head. “No, I'm not married.”
He smiles. “Doesn’t seem like a woman would want you either way,” I glanced up at him. “Wha-” He cut me off, leaning forward. Leaning both of his elbows on his knees. “Is that mascara I see?” I said, I get what he was saying. I was making a comment about me being gay. My face flushed in embarrassment.
Not like it was any of his business.
I scoff, looking at him. He made a fake pouty face. “It’s rude to ignore people.” He comments. I was about to snap back at him when I realized who he was. I nod, “Yes, you’re right. I’m sorry for the rudeness.” I told him. He leans back smiling. “It’s okay sweetheart. Tell me about yourself.” I look at him with surprise, sweetheart? “Sorry, I can’t do that.” I tell him, leaning on my hand. He leans back again.
“And, how do you expect me to tell you my deepest darkest secrets and thoughts, and trust you. If you can’t tell me a few things about yourself.” Master manipulator he was. I suck my teeth, “I am 24 years old. My name is Michael Afton, I have 2 siblings.” I tell him, he smiles looking at me. “See! Wasn’t that hard. Seems interesting. Do tell me more.” He says with a smirk.
