The door opens and everyone's eyes turn. As the blonde walks slowly through the doors into the unfamiliar place. Beatrice was used to being the center of attention, but by people she knew. It was unusual for her to be in a room full of 100s of students and yet their eyes still be on her. Of course she had made a dramatic entrance but the least they could've done was gone back to eating.

Her mother had of course talked about how amazing Hogwarts would be for Beatrice. All the new people, the new scenery, and a new start. Her eyes fell to the floor as she felt a warm hand relax on her back and give her a little nudge in order to signal she needs to keep walking. She didn't dare look up, too scared to meet the eyes that surrounded her.

The warm hand removed itself from Beatrice's back. Her eyes met the three stairs in front of her and she walked up them. Noticing a very long horizontal table in the middle of what appeared to be a stage looking area which she assumed was for the teachers since she only saw a bunch of older people. As her eyes roamed the table in front of her they finally focused on one person in specific. Her mother had spoke of the man a few times, some good things and some bad things. It just depended who her mother was with. She recognized the man because of the long white beard and the tiny reading glasses.

"Good morning Miss Knox, thank you for joining us here at Hogwarts"

His voice was loud, she smiled warmly at the man and thanked him. Beatrice's voice was a lot quieter than his, although she knew how to make it louder she didn't mind staying quiet. A tall looking woman pulled out a chair and sat it in the middle of the "stage", facing the crowd of students.

"Dear I'm going to ask that you sit into this chair, as long as you continue to go to Hogwarts you need to get sorted into a house"

She paused for a second, the older woman looked around the great hall and looked at each table as she said the names of the houses they belonged to

"This first table belongs to Hufflepuff"
Her eyes shift to the next table
"Gryffindor"
She paused again before finally looking at the next table
"Ravenclaw"
And then finally her eyes hit the last table
"And last but not least, Slytherin"

As Beatrice looks up to the table and  her eyes instantly meet another pair of eyes who appears to be around her age. He smirks at her and then looks down at his food. The first thing Beatrice noticed was the whole table was wearing green, green was her favorite color. As she stared at the table a small flashback popped into her mind. Her mother had road the hogsmeade train with her to the school so she could get a few more minutes with her daughter before not seeing her for months.

"Beatrice, Darling, I know it's going to be hard to adjust but this will be a great fresh start for you. Your grandfather went to this school and he loved it, and I will let you in on a little secret. He was a Slytherin, now I know you and me both don't know much about this school but I remember your grandfather telling me all about this Slytherin house, he loved it so very much and said that it was the reason he was so proud to say he went to Hogwarts."

Beatrice had always thought it was silly when her mother talked about her grandfather, knowing that it made them both upset to remember him. Although it didn't seem like it would be too bad if she got sorted into the same house as her grandfather, from how proud he seemed to be of it.

"Now miss Knox I will place this hat on your head and it will tell you your house, and then you can go join them to finish eating dinner. After dinner your house Prefect will help show you to your dormitory."

The older woman's voice snapped Beatrice out of her train of thought and back into the reality that she was having to face the challenge of being stuck at a new school with new people and now she was under the pressure of which house she would get into. Beatrice looked up as she felt something being placed onto her head. To her surprise the hat actually started talking to her.

"Beatrice Knox is it? Eh.. you've got a lot of personality in this head of yours"

Beatrice smiled to herself as she heard a few kids in the crowd giggle.

"Well, you are smart enough to be in Ravenclaw, you're brave enough to be in Gryffindor, and you're sweet enough to be in Hufflepuff. But what really sticks out is your loyalty, ambition, and your cleverness."

The hat takes a few minutes to sort her. Beatrice felt extremely nervous as he said

"Ah ha! I've got it, Beatrice Knox you are a..."

The suspense was killing her. She closed her eyes and prayed that she would just get sorted already.

"SLYTHERIN!!"

The hat yells out for everyone to hear. As soon as the words leave the hats mouth the whole green wearing table erupted in cheers. The woman behind Beatrice smiles and removes the hat off of her head. She stands up and turns around to smile at the man she recognized. Professor Dumbledore.
