Nothing is edited. Behold my sleep deprived writing from when my brain wouldn't shut up! Super short for my first entry here.
(Potential setting: A conversation with her father, after lying to him to visit her suitors. There are multiple, and she is in love with all of them, unable to decide on one. Her father disproves of her indecision, and her secret desires to have them all at once.)
Him: Your great sin was to lie upon my trusting heart, not by means of physical comforts, but with words of flattered deceit - like a beautiful, innocent seeming rose; whose thorns would gladly bleed me dry to dye its petals the shade of rich, crimson rubies!
Her: A rose is to have its thorns to protect it from those who would devour its ruby petals! It is no sin to lie when your heart is pure in its reason for doing so - I ache with pain for having hurt you so, but I will not be regretting any deceits for the protection myself, or for you, the one trying to hold too tightly this rose with piercing thorns! I am no daisy you can crush beneath your feet during a stroll of a spring meadow, or a dandelion you can blow away with a single breath! And to treat me as any other flower than one which will fight for its right to live freely in its garden - it would be the actions of a fool!
Him: All gardens require their gardener for true protection! If not the animals feasting on their petals might do them in, then the flood of a rainstorm drowning their roots, or the harsh winds snapping their stems will do away with them just the same! And roses, if not trimmed, find themselves withering as their nutrients cannot sustain every bud that wishes to bloom.
Her: So now you would tell me that I am spreading myself thin with my care?! My affections for those I love is not an affliction that should wither me away! They are the nutrients themselves which will nurture me, and allow me to grow from a single, lonely rose, to a beautiful, blooming arbor in a grand garden of their support and love!
Him: And what do you know of love?! You who have only read of it in storybooks - lovely as they are they are fantasy!
Her: I'd know more of it if you had any to give me! It is you who does not know love, as your heart has cast it aside and cursed it to a prison deep where you cannot find it to know! You have forgotten it, but that's no reason for me to not have it! To share it - as I've tried to share it with you! But all I give is locked away in that same dark cell, where no light can reach it, and it withers like the flowers of an abandoned garden...
