Lucas
It was about 5 months ago
A day like any other, great amounts of paperwork, coffees and technologies worthy of making anyone's eyes glimmer if it wasn't something they saw everyday - even during the 3011's, certain technologies were "hidden from society" -, but something caught my attention, the murmuring from other people.
Not that there wasn't any gossiping the other days, but that specific day it seemed unending. Everybody spoke about someone new arriving at the agency.
Seeing as the BSSA was almost an FBI together with the Area 51 - do they still exist in recent days? So many years later? Even worse, will my head roll for mentioning them? - it's pretty rare a new person be summoned. I couldn't lie, I was a little curious. Just a little.
In search of information, I approach Mrs. Johnson, also known as the most gossipy person here, to hear what she had to say.
I hadn't heard anything useful from her, but that was until she mentioned the damned rookie's name, Laquesis.
The papers I was carrying almost fall from my hands - the not so kind nickname the No Brainer once gave me during elementary school wasn't so far off from the truth after all... well played, Laquesis, but I wasn't to admit that, no way! Nor would I accept being called "Broken Fingers" instead of "handsome" or "hot". Just a little parenthesis here, these fit me way better than Broken Fingers - but I'm able to catch them midair, fearing ruining my disguise and getting noticed by the Mrs. here.
Going over to my table, I thought about the girl - or was her a woman now? - that I hadn't seen in so many years. And honestly? It could stay this way. I'd rather never see her again for the rest of my life.
She had an explosive personality and was always angry! Always cursing me out for any minimal thing I said or did. Why did she have to take everything to heart?
But I also wasn't about to deny that it was funny - who am I kidding? It was straight up hilarious! - seeing her get worked up so easily. Her face gets a red tint typical to that of cartoons and her eyes throw daggers at anybody on her way. Every time it happens I can't help but cackle loudly; which, of course, only angers her even further. It's a vicious cycle.
I am brought back from my thoughts about her and how I'm plain hot - I wasn't about to the risk on admitting I was actually only thinking about her. But no one can deny I'm irresistible - by a robotic voice calling me.
-Lucas, your Boss is calling you over to his office. Be there as soon as you can - said the robot in an already programmed tone with an strange accent I couldn't recognize. Was it Spanish, maybe? Whatever it was, it's ridiculous.
Alright, lemme explain something real quick to y'all. Yes, some countries from prior years still exist, like... Brazil, for example! Yeah, it became pretty influential around the world over the years. In fact, I believe I have some distant relatives who are Brazilians.. anyways, that's beside the point. There also still are Americans, Canadians, French; you get my point.
Following the robot's orders I climb up the stairs to my superior's office. It was quite unfair, his office had large windows with a beautiful view and simple-but-expensive decorations. My bet was that he was just trying to show off. "Oh, LoOk At Me I sPeNd MoNeY oN eXpEnSiVe DeCoRaTiOnS".
-Yes, Sir? What did you need me for? - I say as I slowly look up and see, in front of me, not one, but two figures. And both were recognizable for me. Unfortunately, one familiarly older than the other.
Laquesis
-WHAT!? - Lucas and I shouted at the same time, giving each other dirty looks simply for having said the same thing at the.. ugh, exact same time...
-But, Boss, she's a newbie, a rookie! She won't know what to do on a mission! - Lucas said desperately, gesticulating a whole lot with his hands as though the idea of doing a mission with me was terrifying. I just sigh and roll my eyes at the other's sudden anxiety.
-And that is exactly why you are going to help her, the "rookie", as you called her - Responds his boss in an authoritative manner. Seeing Lucas opening his mouth to argue back he quickly adds: - No buts. You're dismissed. The mission's details will be brought to you both shortly.
With a defeated sigh, Lucas swallows hard, walking towards the exit to his boss' office.
Closing the door behind him, he throws me a threateningly judging glare, which I pay back with the same intensity. He turns his face away from me, making his extremely well-cared for - his hair really was something anybody would wish for -, brown hair strands move along.
He goes to his desk, and I do the same. I go to a desk designated as mine, next to a woman with short hair and eye-catching, bright red glasses. She was really pretty and had a gentle aura surrounding her. Noticing I was staring at her like some kind of lunatic she gives me a warm smile, saying:
-You must be the new employee. Pleased to make your acquaintance, I am Maria Clara, but you can also call me Little Maria.
-Little Maria? - I ask, raising my eyebrows is a questioning manner. Little Maria stands up from her chair and I understand the reason for her nickname, she was rather short. I let an "oh-.." out in understanding.
A person stops next to my newly-assigned desk and throws a document, leaving right after. Looking at the document's cover I could tell it was from the mission assigned to both me and Lucas. They really were quite fast with this, huh?
Little Maria looks over my shoulder, trying to see what it was about. Her eyes shine when she reads the name Lucas at the cover.
-You're going on a mission with Lucas? How lucky of you!! I'd love having a mission with him - was she..? She was practically drooling!
I only eye her in confusion. Ah, if only she knew that this mission would be the reason for my collapse... not in a good way, of course.

A/N: BOOM! New chapter for y'all! This one's considerably bigger than the first one, huh? Again, apologies for any mistranslation and/or misspelling. I hope you're enjoying the story so far. Me and my friend have a lot in mind, so be prepared for more chapters and adventures from these two!
