(I am not fluent in Russian so I used Google Translate sorry)

I wasn't exactly enjoying my day off. On one hand, I was excited about meeting Adrian for lunch, but I was dreading seeing Rafael tonight. A whole month in this new city and I already had two men interested in me. Of course, they were complete opposites. I would be lying if I said Rafael wasn't insanely gorgeous, but I fell in love at first sight with Adrian. I couldn't stop imagining white picket fences and Sunday brunches with him.

I texted him this morning asking if we were still on for lunch and he just sent me a thumbs up emoji. When it was time, I got ready to meet him. I fussed with my hair for a bit. I was going to need a touch-up soon. My dark roots were already peaking through. Before I moved here, I dyed my black hair platinum blonde. It made my dark blue eyes stand out even more. I slipped on my jacket, grabbed my keys, phone, and wallet before heading out. It was a short walk to the diner. I haven't tried it yet, but it always looked good. I walked in and noticed Adrian sitting in a booth towards the back by the windows. He looked so nice in his navy blue suit jacket and jeans.

"Hi." I greeted him, smiling and sliding into the seat across from him.

"Hey, Milo," he greeted back, "how was your week?" I shrugged as the server came by and dropped off some menus.

"Uneventful." I replied simply. We chatted while looking over the menu and then the server came to take our orders.

"So if you don't mind me asking," Adrian said, looking at me, "where are you from?"

"Oh, I was working overseas," I replied, "and then my grandpa died, so I came back to help my grandma...she lived on a little farm out in the country."

"And your parents?" He asked.

"They died when I was a baby," I replied, "my grandparents raised me."

"Oh I'm sorry," he said, "if I'm asking too many questions just tell me to fuck off...I'm curious, by nature." I chuckled softly.

"That probably helps with being a detective, huh?" I said smiling. He smiled back, shrugging.

"Yeah guess so." He said.

Our food arrived and we talked between bites. I talked about my plants and the new orchids I was taking care of. I learned that Adrian was actually pretty active since most of the time he sat at a desk doing paperwork. He liked to go hiking and worked out a few times a week. He had a pretty big family. He had three older brothers who were all in various types of police work. His dad was a retired police Sergeant.

"So what type of work were you doing overseas?" He asked sitting back in his seat.

"I was helping out a friend," I replied, "he was a freelance contractor, but he wasn't fluent in any languages so he asked if I could come help."

"You know other languages," he asked lifting his eyebrows, "which are you fluent in?"

"Oh...um...Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Russian." I replied smiling. Adrian whistled softly under his breath.

"Impressive," he said smiling back, "so why are you working at that convenience store?" I chuckled softly.

"I didn't see a high demand for a pentalingual when I moved here." I replied dryly.

"So why here?" He asked resting his elbows on the table and leaning closer.

"It seemed like a nice place," I replied shrugging, "I just wanted someplace peaceful."

"Yeah guess so." He said shrugging. He paid for lunch and we headed out.

"You got plans next week?" He asked as we stepped out onto the sidewalk. I shook my head.
"No, nothing yet." I replied.
