It was one of these evenings where everything was quiet and the only light was the gentle lights from the stage lamps. Niki sat on the couch, a little absent while the others talked. But as soon as Hana entered the room, it seemed as if the atmosphere was magically brighter. It was like she was the sunlight that illuminated the room. Her smile was the only one that Niki still needed to make the day perfect.
"You're late," he said without turning away from her without his gaze, even though she had nothing more than herself in the room.
Hana, who slowly sat down with him, grinned. "I hoped you would notice."
Niki laughed softly, his eyes sparkled when he looked at her. "It is difficult not to notice you. You are the only reason why the room here is somehow brighter when you come in."
She looked at him surprised, a little smile flee her lips. "You are really a sought -after one," she whispered.
"Maybe," said Niki, and before she could answer, he pulled her close and put his arm over her shoulders. "But only when it comes to you."
It was a moment that was so simple and yet so deep that words seemed almost superfluous. The others around them had long been busy with their own conversations, but in this little bubble between them the world seemed to stand still. Hana leaned his head at his shoulder, and for a second it was as if there was nothing else than both.
Niki grabbed his hoodie and pulled him over her head, a sweet sign of his affection. "You should wear it just because I like it," he murmured, his voice gently and relaxed.
Hana raised an eyebrow before answering: "I thought you had only dismissed something like that as 'my' hoodie." She put on him and looked up. "Get better than me."
"It may be," said Niki, "but it always looks better when you wear it."
