The city of Bratislava was once a vibrant and bustling place, full of culture, history, and life. But that was before the outbreak. Three weeks ago, a mysterious virus swept across the world, turning people into mindless, flesh-eating zombies. The infection spread quickly, overwhelming the hospitals, the police, and the military. Chaos and panic ensued, as people tried to flee or hide from the undead horde.
But not everyone gave up hope. A group of five Slovakians, who had nothing in common except their will to survive, banded together to face the apocalypse. They were:
Marek, a 35-year-old computer programmer who worked from home. He was a fan of zombie movies and games and had a stash of survival gear and weapons in his apartment. He was smart, resourceful, and paranoid. He used his hacking skills to access information and communicate with other survivors online. He was reluctant to trust anyone and preferred to stay indoors as much as possible.
Zuzana, a 28-year-old nurse who worked at the University Hospital of Bratislava. She was compassionate, brave, and loyal. She had a lot of medical knowledge and skills and tried to help as many people as she could. She was also a devout Catholic and believed that God would protect her and her loved ones. She was friends with Marek and often visited him to bring him supplies and comfort.
Lukas, a 23-year-old student who studied at the Comenius University. He was adventurous, curious, and rebellious. He loved to explore the city and look for new challenges. He was also a skilled parkour practitioner and used his agility and speed to evade the zombies. He was fascinated by the outbreak and wanted to learn more about it. He was often reckless and put himself and others in danger.
Eva, a 32-year-old journalist who worked for the Slovak Radio and Television. She was ambitious, determined, and courageous. She had a strong sense of justice and duty and wanted to expose the truth behind the outbreak. She had a lot of contacts and sources and used them to gather information and evidence. She was also a skilled shooter and had a license to carry a firearm. She was often in conflict with the authorities and the military.
Peter, a 40-year-old chef who owned a small restaurant in the Old Town. He was friendly, generous, and optimistic. He had a passion for cooking and loved to share his food with others. He had a lot of friends and customers who supported him and his business. He was also a member of the local volunteer fire brigade and had some experience in fighting fires and rescuing people. He was always ready to lend a hand and cheer people up.
The five of them met by chance, when they were trapped in a shopping mall by a swarm of zombies. They managed to escape and decided to stick together, as they realized they had a better chance of survival as a team. They made their way to Marek's apartment, which was relatively safe and well-stocked. There, they planned their next move, hoping to find a way out of the city or a cure for the virus.
One day, they received a message from an unknown sender, who claimed to have important information about the outbreak. The sender asked them to meet him at a secret location, promising to reveal the truth and help them escape. The group was skeptical, but curious. They decided to take the risk and follow the instructions.
They left Marek's apartment and headed to the coordinates given by the sender. They had to cross the Danube river, which was infested with zombies and debris. They found a boat and rowed across, avoiding the undead and the currents. They reached the other side and continued on foot, following a map that led them to a forest.
They entered the forest and walked for a while, until they saw a sign that read: "Welcome to the Clactonian". They were puzzled by the name, but proceeded anyway. They soon realized that they had entered a strange and primitive settlement, where people lived like it was the Stone Age. They saw huts made of branches and animal skins, fires burning in pits, and tools and weapons made of flint and bone. They also saw people dressed in furs and skins, who looked at them with curiosity and hostility.
They were greeted by a man who introduced himself as the leader of the Clactonians. He said that he was the one who sent them the message and that he had something to show them. He led them to a large hut, where he revealed a shocking sight: a cage full of zombies, who were chained and muzzled. He explained that he and his people had captured and tamed the zombies, and that they used them for various purposes, such as hunting, farming, and entertainment. He said that he had discovered the secret of the virus, and that he had a way to control it. He claimed that he was the master of the zombies, and that he could make anyone into one of them.
He then revealed his true intention: he wanted to recruit the group into his clan, and make them his loyal followers. He said that he had been watching them for a while, and that he admired their skills and abilities. He said that they would be valuable assets to his community, and that he would reward them with power and pleasure. He said that they had two options: join him willingly, or become his zombies by force.
The group was shocked and disgusted by the leader's offer. They realized that he was a madman, who had lost his humanity and sanity. They refused to join him, and tried to escape. But they were surrounded by the Clactonians, who attacked them with their primitive weapons. A fierce battle ensued, as the group fought for their lives and freedom.
Marek used his hacking device to unlock the cage and release the zombies, hoping to create a diversion. The zombies broke free and attacked the Clactonians, who were caught off guard. The group seized the opportunity and ran towards the exit, but not without casualties. Zuzana was stabbed by a spear, Lukas was bitten by a zombie, and Eva was shot by an arrow. Only Marek and Peter made it out alive, but they were wounded and exhausted.
They managed to get back to the boat and row across the river, leaving behind the horror of the Clactonian. They returned to Marek's apartment, where they tended to their injuries and mourned their losses. They wondered if they would ever find a way out of this nightmare, or if they would end up like the zombies or the Clactonians. They prayed for a miracle, or at least a sign of hope.
