13 - The Fire, The Water and a Disaster

JAY'S POV

I was outside, enjoying the fresh air with Zane. Zane was quite quiet after taking in that baby. He hasn't said much since the disappearance of the others either. But he's far more quieter now.

"You're quiet. Too quiet."

"I quite enjoy the peace and quiet-"

"PEACE???"

Zane raised his eyebrow and sighed. "I enjoy the quiet," he corrected himself. "Does that make you feel slightly more... satisfied?"

"Yes, definitely. Not to mention that everyone is-" I've been interrupted by a knock on the monastery gate. Me and Zane walked over and opened the gate. There was a handful of people waiting impatiently by the gate.

"Can I help y-"

"We're not stone anymore! We want to thank you!"

"But we didn't do anything..."

Zane just left me.

"Well, do you mind telling me in detail what happened?" I asked.

"Well, the darkness started spreading, we turned to stone, the cloud went but it took a while before the stone disappeared. Some of us saw you in Ninjago city so we assumed that you did something," one of the male citizens explained.

This seemed a bit suspicious. There's no way in the first spinjitzu masters name that everything suddenly went to normal.

"Did you see anything or anyone else?"

They all shook there heads and looked at each other. Zane suddenly ran back out. "GO! ALL OF YOU! DON'T GO TOO FAR AWAY FROM THE MONASTERY! IF YOU DO, WE CAN'T ENSURE YOUR SAFETY."

Zane led the citizens out, then instructed me to go back in to the base.

"What the heck was that, Zane?!"

"It's Garmadon," he said, "He's attacked us!" We went down to the base to see him fighting everyone. We joined in and instantly failed. We tried using weapons, powers but they simply didn't work. This weird shadow was following him. It eventually went inside of Garmadon, making him stronger. He spinjitzu-ed us out of control. When we looked up he was holding Kai. Garmadon covered Kai's mouth and pulled a dagger to his neck. We all went still. Kai tried to escape him, but he was too strong.

"Surrender or your little friend here dies..."

Kai kept shaking his head. We heard him try to shout "don't". A tear rolled down Kai's cheek. You could see that he was terrified. We stood and stared.

"We will surrender if you give back Kai!" Skylor shouted.

"NO!" Kai yelled. Garmadon covered his mouth again.

Wu turned to look at Skylor, shaking his head. "Give back Kai, Garmadon. It doesn't have to be like this!"

"No? You won't surrender? Well you just started a war..."

He started pulling the dagger closer to Kai's neck. We started running up to him to stop him. Kai started panicking and tried to break free from his grasp. We tried using our powers but they went straight through Garmadon.

"No, no, no, no! Wait, STOP, DON'T!" we all shouted.

It was too late. Garmadon slit Kai's neck right open. Kai dropped dead on the ground. "You never said if you wanted him dead or alive..." He disappeared.

I ran towards Kai along with the others but I ran into Garmadon's head again.

NYA'S POV

I suddenly felt a cold breeze. I woke up to see darkness surrounding me. Realising that I was in Garmadon's head, I gasped and stood up. I heard Jay call everyone's name so I ran towards him.
