The world is not what it seems. For hundreds of years creatures known by many humans as Angels have walked among real humans. They spent much of their existence taking the souls of innocent people and not worrying about the consequence of their actions until they destroyed the wrong family.
I wanted nothing more than to hunt all of them. I had a personal vendetta for it.
I trained with the best growing up and I did not want anything to do with any of the creatures even if they begged for their life. These monsters were disguised as angels but when they died they only had one true form.

I lived in the safe house that was formerly known as The Elite. It was falling apart now as most members had been killed and others had fled the scene in fear of their life. I stayed because I saw no point in seeking my own place and this seemed like an easier target for what i hunted. I didnt blame the members for abandoning this place. Our people were getting slaughtered left and right we were losing a war we couldnt win.

I found this place by accident when i was out hunting those vile monsters and taking them out one by one when the head of The Elites found me and asked me to join. I only joined because i had nowhere else to turn and i didnt feel like being alone after a while so i joined.

I didn't keep much company because i fear if i let someone too close to me then i would lose them to the death of The Angels. I was able to hunt these creatures easier than most and never questioned my own abilities. I was faster than these creatures and they knew they were in for it when i had them locked as a target.

I was also well skilled among those who used to work here. I didnt mind when they would ask us to work in pairs because some nights were dangerous than the last. It was nice to have small talk when it came about. But those days were gone now.

Tonight was one of my hunt nights that i took in rotation. I was stationed inside the old church where the creatures came to seek out innocents and take their souls the minute these monsters exposed their angel form to a human. The church was still in running condition for most part but abandoned by others. The pews were dusty as were the old song books that lay untouched. The floors were left unswept. The stained glass windows hadnt been wiped. I had a particular enjoyment for this place. Felt like i could revisit some of the past before the unknown future took over.

I sat above the door in a little nook that no one saw when they entered. The Angels couldn't sense me and this worked well to my advantage most of the time.
I sat quietly until i heard the door creak open and in walked a small old woman. She came here often so i sat there in darkness as she did her prayers unaware of my being there. I wondered what it would like to grow old. I wanted to be this lady one day and still have faith in something. I lost that when i became an orphan at the age of 5 years old when i watched my parents slaughtered by the very monsters i hunted. I never forgot that fateful night but i vowed i would protect the innocent.

I straightened up now on my perch when a man walked into the church that i had never seen before. He walked up and sat on the first pew across from the woman who was there before him. He didn't speak. He just sat there. Him being there made my senses go into high gear. He was dressed like anyone else. He was a young lad about average height with shaggy brown hair and fair skin. He wore blue jeans, a white shirt and a black leather jacket. He reminded me of some greaser from the 1950s. I wondered if this brought back memories from her youth just looking at him.

He stood up and walked over to the woman and opened his jacket exposing her to his wings. The wings were always to get the victim in a trance like state so that they wouldnt struggle while their souls were being swiped away. It was rather nasty business to watch if you made it out alive and no one usually did.

She sat there in silence probably thinking she was dead or the holy ghost was there for her. He shined as bright as a beacon in the night and i knew this was my chance to move. I saw him about to jump to take her life before i ended his with a bullet that i shot through his head. Shooting them in the head was the only way to kill them completely. They could heal their wounds as long as they were not fatally wounded. The minute he was dead he reverted to his true form which looked like an ugly Gargoyle and that's what these monsters looked like to the rest of us. They had been around for centuries even longer than i had been alive.
