I'm walking home one night from baseball practice when I'm suddenly dragged into an empty alley. I have just enough time to pull out my pocket knife and thrust my arm up and back. I hear the guy yell in pain as his skin tears at the contact of my knife. I feel warm liquid trickle onto my hand and his grip on me loosens considerably.

The man falls to the ground and I feel the same warm liquid splatter onto my neck. I slowly turn and see my hand covered in blood and my attacker on the ground dead, a large gash in the side of his throat. Panicked, I toss my knife and run the rest of the way home.

When home, I scrub my entire body of blood, staying in the shower for hours until the blood is no longer visible in the water. By the time I get out my body is sore and red from the scrubbing. After I dry off and change I burn my bloody clothes and try to sleep, though I fail.

Every time I close my eyes, I see the dead man all bloody. But the more I see him the more calm I am, and the quicker I'm able to fall asleep.
