if it hurts so bad,
why am i still here?

why do i put myself
time after time
through physical
and emotional distress
through tear-filled nights
and stress-filled days

i am still here
because i know
it will get better

instead of tears
there will be smiles and
sun instead
of rain and
love instead
of hate and
if i do not stay
none of this will happen

if i choose to leave,
i will never be happy
it will never get better

so i am still here because
i know i will
be loved the way i am
supposed to
and those tear-filled nights
and stress-filled days
will be nothing
but a memory
