Prompt; Poppy and Branch ended their relationship precisely two years ago. They didn't expect to bump into each other at a coffee shop, the very same shop where they first met.

"So, this is it?" Poppy stared down at her interlocked hands, fiddling with her fingers as she couldn't bring herself to face him. Truth was, she didn't fall out of love like he had, and at any given moment, the welled up tears were about to burst out.

Branch sighed, "Yeah. I'm sorry, Poppy. I just don't want to keep feeding you a lie, and waste more of your time." He apologetically smiled, heading for the door. Before he exited, he said a few more words that left Poppy hysterically crying in her room.

Unfortunately, Poppy was aware that she wouldn't move on so easily. A thief was born that day as he walked out with her heart in his hands, keeping it with him for the next year.

  Two Years Later...

Poppy hasted through the crowd, shooting quick apologies to those she accidentally bumped into. There was really no rush, but the need for a good cup of coffee increased her motivation to arrive sooner. After five hours of working on her college assignments, her body sagged with a heavy weight, and a nice warm cup would do wonders for her.

Making one last turn, she arrived at the door of Brozone's Cafe, a local coffee shop run by a lively group of brothers. She pushed through the doors, the sound of a high-pitched bell making its usual ring whenever a customer would enter.

"Hey there, Pops!" Floyd, her favorite barista, greeted her with a sweet smile. He moved to the register and attended to her quickly, "I assume the usual?"

Poppy nodded with a giggle, "You know me so well, I probably need to lay off the caffeine if you already have my order memorized." She pulled out her wallet and tapped her card on the reader, hearing the ding of approval right after.

Floyd waved a dismissive hand, turning around to whip up her drink. "Nah, don't even worry. You're also one of my best friends, and what kind of best friend would I be if I didn't have it memorized?" He placed the lid on the plastic cup, adding a fun drawing to it like he would occasionally do.

"Hm, well I suppose you're right." Poppy smiled, accepting the drink from his hand, "I'll be over at that booth, I still need to finish my essay and there's no other place as relaxing as this cafe." She dangled her pink MacBook Air, Floyd rolling his eyes and shooing her away.

Poppy slumped against the booth, her body finally relaxing against the soft cushion. She placed her laptop on the table, flipping it open to see the screen loading. As she waited, her eyes wandered the area, seeing little to no customers chatting quietly amongst themselves.

Soft music played in the background; she subconsciously hummed to the tune, her fingers tapping against the wooden table as it mimicked the beat. The bittersweet smell was refreshing to her nose, bringing the same comfort alike to a heavy blanket wrapped around her chubby body on a winter night.

She closed her eyes, sinking deeper into that comfort. The three hours of sleep were creeping up on her, her breathing coming to a slow rhythm as she felt herself drift away. Before she could doze off completely, a familiar voice interrupted.
