Sick

Lute, despite having a strong immune system for his age, was no stranger to illness. Even when he got sick, the worst he usually got were the mild case of the sniffles.

Today, however, was different.

Laying on his bed in his room in Gildegaran, he was lost in a feverish daze, not fully awake, yet not fully passed out either. Every breath he took felt like a desperate attempt for air, and simply trying to move any part of his body requires copious amounts of effort and energy. The mere thought of food made his stomach turn, and his head had an extremely sharp pain. To say he was miserable would probably be an understatement for most people. He's never felt so weak or tired before, and it scared him.

What if I never recover? Will it be the end of me? He thought to himself, fear and uncertainty in his tired brown eyes. Though he was a beacon of hope and gave everyone light and happy feelings when he was around, he was but a frail, helpless child in this state.

Just as he was about to close his eyes, for what to him felt like the last time, a familiar voice calls out to him, snapping him out of his feverish daze.

"Hey Lute, are you in there?"

The teen's eyes snap wide open as he quickly sits up and looks around, searching for the source of the noise. The familiar voice calls out again.

"Hello? Lute? Can you hear me?"

Realizing the voice came from outside his room, the teen slowly makes his way to the front door of his room and opens the door. His brotherly figure Cheval was outside of the room, as his tired eyes can register the red hair the other teen has. Lute, comforted by the presence of his brotherly figure, started chatting with him.

"Oh, hey Cheval!"

The other teen looks at his brother an offers him a friendly smile.

"Hey Lute, me and Lilia were going out on a gathering quest for someone. They said they needed it for medicine."

"Who asked for it?" Lute curiously asked. He was always the adventurous and curious type of child.

"To be honest, I don't really know. All they said is that they needed medicine for someone with the flu. Might just be their for child, who knows. But yeah, if you want to get some cash for the day, now's the chance."

"Alright. I'll be there in a few!" Lute said happily.

Cheval left as he went back to the square in Gildegaren, giving him a warm smile.

After a few minutes, Lute was ready and rushed out the door. When he saw Lilia and Cheval at the same time, he stopped when they were at and talked for a bit with them.

"Lute, are you ok? You don't seem very well..." Lilia remarked.
