When Niki arrives at work on Valentine's Day, he doesn't expect to see a bouquet of red roses on his desk. The pleasant floral scent spreads throughout the office, adding an air of mystery to an already romantic holiday. A string of thoughts flashes through his mind, but who could be the mysterious admirer who left him such a beautiful bouquet? Niki walks over to the table, noticing a small heart-shaped card and a small packet of chocolates. Deciding he'll check the last two things later, he takes the bouquet in his hands, bringing it closer to his face.
The sweet scent of the flowers wafts to his receptors, making him feel like he's not in an office at all right now, but in a field dotted with dozens of flowers. The sun warms his face and the wind ruffles his blonde hair. The sweet scent of the flowers wafts through the wind, but he is pulled out of his reverie by a familiar voice.
"Ki? Niki-ah, are you there?" The young man flinches and shrieks slightly at the low voice and the warm palm of a hand on his shoulder. Niki still clutches the bouquet to his chest and turns around, meeting his gaze with warm brown eyes.
"Did I scare you? 'Sorry, baby," Heeseung laughs, gently running his hand over his cheek. Attention is drawn to the small bouquet of red roses that Riki is pressing so diligently to his chest. The look changes from tender to puzzled, and Heeseung shifts his gaze from the bouquet to warm brown eyes, searching them for the answer to his question.
Niki seems to realise just what it is that's catching the hyung's attention and hurries to put the bouquet back on the table, remembering to cover the card and chocolate bar with it. Clearing his throat, he turns back around, giving Heeseung his sweetest smile.
"Morning, hyung. You gave me a bit of a scare. Ah, I don't even know who left me flowers already since this morning. Maybe you saw who did it?" Riki asks, laughing nervously. He feels like a fool, but he just doesn't know what else to say in this awkward situation. His heart thumping loudly in his chest from excitement and fear, he carefully wipes his sweaty palms on his dark trousers and bites his lip, looking at the older man expectantly.
Heeseung smiles softly and shakes his head, making it clear that he doesn't know where the bouquet came from. It turns out the sender isn't him, or he's faking it well. Unfortunately, Riki doesn't have time to read the valentine card, so curiosity will eat at him for a while longer until Heeseung goes to his office. Distracted from his inner torment, he can finally get a better look at the older man. He looks even better than usual today. He wonders why? He's wearing a dark blue satin shirt with the top two buttons undone, a black jacket over it, and classic black trousers that perfectly accentuate his long legs.
Heeseung clears his throat, smirking cheekily, and Niki realises he's being caught red-handed ogling at his hyung. He blushes and shifts his gaze to any corner of the room, as long as he doesn't meet the pleased older man. The latter takes him by the chin with his long fingers, forcing him to look at himself.
"Ki, I've got something for you on your computer. Check your email after I leave, and don't forget your headphones," Heeseung smiles slyly and leans in, leaving a gentle kiss on Niki's cheek. "I'll see you at lunch," he winks before leaving Niki's office.
The younger man stands for a few moments, mulling over what has happened, but dies down, noticing that there are literally twenty minutes until his work day starts. He first places the flowers in a vase on the windowsill and opens a small card in the shape of a heart.
Love for you will never run out, it will always warm my heart.
Love infinitely and think of you all the time,
Your Jake.
Niki blushes and tries to hold back all the cries of joy and happiness that tend to burst out of his chest. Jake... He loves him, his feelings are mutual! So much joy from a little message. He smiles and carefully puts it in his bag along with the chocolates, remembering that Heeseung had asked him to check his mail. Really, is Heeseung confessing his feelings to him too? Niki enters the password and opens the mail, seeing one unread message. He sees the attachment and downloads it, remembering to put on his headphones. A pleasant melody pours out of the speaker, followed by Heeseung's angelic voice. Niki has never heard a song like this, the lyrics so sentimental and reverent, resonating in his heart. Tears welled up in his eyes at the sound of his own name spoken so affectionately and tenderly.
