Hi, so this is my first time publishing  a story I've written and I hope it's worthy of SoKeefe or anything KOTLC in general!

Sophie pov.

Although she didn't know it, Sophie Foster was the reason business was booming at Lost Spring cafe.

It was two weeks until school started up again. Two weeks until she'd have to pretend she didn't exist. it was easier that way. Sophie skipped a grade after her teachers clued into her photographic memory and ever since she'd decided that the best way to avoid bullies was to stay in the shadows. She could also hide from pity. But she tried not to think about that.

The shop was full of customers that afternoon and Sophie felt at ease pouring coffee for her regulars.

"Sophie, dear, top me up would you." Mrs. Green cooed holding up her cup, she looked back at her group of friends "And you know, Ms. Sophie skipped a grade this year!" she told them, looking up at her proudly "She's the smartest girl we've had in town since her mother!"

Sophie blushed and  poured coffee into her mug, "Thank-you Mrs. Green, enjoy your drink."

As she walked away she heard Mrs. Green say, "isn't she a delight! And simply the image of her mother, it's a shame she's lost her, the car crash was simply horrible. and Sophie was devastated, it'll be one year this September, poor thing!"

In truth, Sophie was still devastated. Her mom, dad and sister had been driving to a piano recital, one she had refused to go to, when someone texting and driving hit them off the road. Nobody made it.

Sophie wiped the sadness from her face and  went to cash. Suddenly a group of teens burst into the shop.

She recognized three of them, one in particular,  from school and groaned internally as they came up to order. that's when she noticed the fourth. He was tall, and his hair was artfully mussed. he smiled at her and walked up, her stomach twisted.

"Hey," he said grinning.

"Um, Hel..."

She was interrupted by a girl about her age, the most popular girl in her grade, Biana "Hey, so I'll have an iced lemonade, large, actually make that raspberry lemonade, and a cinnamon roll!"

She smiled her perfect smile and looked at someone behind her, Her older brother Fitz. "What about you Fitzy?"

Sophie snapped out of her dais and blushed, putting in her order.

"I'll have the same," he said "but just regular lemonade."

The other girl was standing beside Fitz, hanging off his arm. "I won't have anything, but put two straws in that lemonade." she drawled.

The only person left was the boy, Sophie smiled softly, "And you?"

He seemed to be distracted though and she had to ask again.

"Oh! Sorry! Um, what do you suggest?"

Sophie bit her lip and looked at the menu, "Everything's good, but my personal favorite is the mallowmelt, it's delicious."

"C'mon Keefe! Hurry up!" Biana whined.

"I'll have that then, thanks..."

The girl on Fitz's arm snorted.

She watched them as they sat at their table. her face blushed vivid pink. His name is Keefe, she thought to herself.

When their order was ready, Sophie carefully began bringing it over to the teens table. As she turned to swerve around a customer Biana stood up and began walking toward the counter, groaning."What is taking so long?" suddenly Fitz shouted, "Biana! Look out!" She crashed into Sophie and the lemonade and treats dumped all over her, soaking her to the bone. Everyone in the shop gasped. Biana stepped back horrified. "Ohmygosh ohmygosh! I am so sorry!"

The boys rushed over and someone helped Sophie to her feet, "Thank you," she mumbled wiping the mallowmelt off her eyes.

"No problem," replied Keefe.

Sophie's eyes widened and her gaze went to his hand holding hers.

Keefe quickly pulled his hand free and ran a hand through his hair, messing it up. "Are you okay? That was quite the fall."

Her blush reached her toes, "I'm okay, I might need to change though." She looked down at her clothes. Stained, ruined.

Keefe held out his hand again, "I'm Keefe Sencen," Sophie shook it and looked away.

"Sophie Foster,"

Keefe was about to say something else but Biana ran up to her and started wiping food off her face.

"I'm sorry about your order, I'll pay for it," Sophie said softly, looking away.

"Are you kidding me? I completely ran into you! It's my fault! In fact, I should be buying YOU something. A drink? Clothes?"

Sophie's sticky hand brushed hair from her eyes. "Don't worry about it,"

"I'm not taking no for an answer! C'mon, I'll take you to my house and you can borrow something from me. It's only fair."

The manager, who'd come from the back a while ago, nodded, "Take the afternoon off Sophie, You deserve it, I'll call the casual."

Biana beamed "It's settled then!"
