chapter two, the dominos cascaded in a line!
december 26th, 1976
𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐈 𝐈𝐒 𝐁𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑. 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐁𝐘 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄, 𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐘, circumstances have been forcing her to act on the very worst part of herself. This has led to the dirtiest look known to mankind to scatter on her expressions the moment Darius excitedly opened the door to the apartment, allowing the Potter family with the addition of Sirius Black to enter, those aggravating grins plastered to the boys' faces.
"Good evening, Mr Lantsov," Potter greeted politely, so politely that Lori almost gagged. "Thank you for having us."
"The pleasure is all mine, come in, come in," he urged as the family entered. Fleamont and Darius gave each other a boyish, brotherly hug and Euphemia stumbled forward to wrap her arms tightly around a quiet Lori who stood in the back.
"Oh, Lori!" She squealed, and her arms proved to bring sudden warmth to the young girl that she was not expecting, "It's been too long, I haven't seen you in ages and your hair has grown so long and you look absolutely beautiful!"
Lori wore a knee-length white dress with light blue floral patterns that was rather suitable for a hot summer day. Her hair was still tangled from all the work she had done around the house with little time left to do any makeup; so at the moment, she did not understand what exactly Euphemia found beautiful. However, she also acknowledged that Euphemia Potter somehow found everything in the world beautiful.
"You're going to break the poor girl's ribs, mum, let go," James announced loudly with humour, emitting a laugh from the adults' lips. Mia finally let go of Lori and the girl blinked to snap herself back to reality, "Hello, Lantsov." James greeted her with a sickly fake wide smile.
Sirius did a little wave from the back towards the Lantsov's direction, "Hi."
"I'm so glad you made it." Lori uttered through gritted teeth, the three adults completely oblivious to the sudden tension as Darius led the Potters into the living room, containing two sofas and a television by the fireplace.
Darius and Fleamont, despite residing in different Houses, always managed to be attached. The two did everything together and the professors never found one without the other. Their timid little friend group surely was the talk of the years they spent at school, considering that Euphemia befriended a snarky Slytherin pureblood back in the days, earning their band of friends the title of most diverse one in Hogwarts.
Now, whilst the two men expected their only children, Lori and James to be as attached as they used to be, for the two to be best friends except it could not be far from their expectations.
